Look at all those countries. Majority of them are white affluent countries except Japan. White people buying white music; I'm startled.

Tupac is more popular more revered in Africa, but unfortunately majority of Africa is poor and buying a dead man's album is the last thing in their mind but that doesn't negate his popularity. Is music dominated sales alone? Disco for example was extremely popular in America but was crushed basically in one night by White guys.

Numbers don't tell full story of reality. If you compare region by region, people by people and country by country who is more popular, Pac would win

Again, there's a world outside the transatlantic world
stop it

Finally @BrothaZay makes a good thread

garbage thread that is nonsense saying new artists are more known than older artists..its the same mentality that these rappers have coming out saying they are the GOAT disrespecting people before them including pioneers and real rappers of the 90's

I have seen threads saying Chris Brown is better than Michael Jackson:snoop: and the goat

Except I have heard tons of Beatles music, again their influence was here in the US and Western Europe, I can bet no other country celebrates the Beatles the way they do here. Just look at their compilation album "1", that album sold in the US, Canada, Great Britain, France, Germany, Norway, and Australia. There are 2 billion people between India and China, no certified sales, what about Japan, no certifications, again, Western Europe and the US/Canada. They had a hot 5 year run and it was a wrap, sounds like a boy band to me, spare me the innovative deep songs spiel, again I listened to them extensively, it was just music that spoke of the times, hence why they are a single generation group (baby boomers), if you are 50-70 and white, you love them, no one else gives a crap.
Bro this is some dumb shyt. You're really arguing that the beatles werent that popular in places of the world where nobody even understands english...?

The ENTIRE MARKET of our pop culture is Western Europe and the North America. That's the entire scope the western world(minus south america). NONE of our popular music makes waves Eastern places like Turkey, Russia, Japan, and Korea. They have their own markets

You can't know what you're saying when your post is full of holes. The Beatles lasted 10 years not 5.. Those 10 years were split into two distinct eras each 5 years apiece. 1960-1965, and 1965-1970

Listen to the Beatles in the first era.

Listen to the Beatles in the 2nd era.

Completely different band.

Sgt Peppers sounds NOTHING like Please Please Me

The White Album sounds NOTHING like Beatles for Sale.

The Beatles were that band who successfully transitioned from pop boy band who sung songs for young girls to legitimate hardcore rock musicians with appreciable talent while hitting all the stops in between. They were first pop stars to write their own music. They were the first to incorporate sampling, way before hip hop. They went from Backstreet Boys to Radiohead. You can't listen to song like While My Guitar Gently Weeps or Happiness is a Warm Gun and sit here and tell me they didn't have talent. and even at the end they were the some of the first to experiment with Heavy Metal, psychedelic and experimental rock. The Beatles were trailblazers no doubt and you're sitting here acting like they didn't do ANYTHING when every single contemporary respected musician would highly dispute your claim. Again I feel like I'm talking to somebody who listened to the Beatles through random songs on youtube without taking context, form, progression and especially time period into account. I've listened to most of the Beatles catalog except some of their earlier albums and yellow submarine. 3 members of the band had pretty good solo careers after the Beatles too. Paul McCartneys solo career is almost legendary in its own right (not my opinion, based on sales) but you can't deny the beatles. cmon man! *ditka voice*

I agree to be honest but you still don't know a damn thing about black music if this all you can up with.

For a black forum you guys come off really ignorant when it comes to black music that isn't- hip-hop or RnB music.

When I lurked here, I saw someone say Miles Davis was the Jimi Hendrix of trumpets :snoop:

Yep I love Led Zeppelin too but they have entire albums of plagiarized material

Can you give me some examples. I know they are heavily influenced, but I wanna hear sh*t they lifted directly. Bands like the Eagles and Nirvana copied riffs from Led Zeppelin, but I wasn't aware that Led Zeppelin blatantly copied anyone else

Lol their excuse is that SLIM SHADY raps about rape and murder, not Eminem.
I guess I should rob a store and blame it on my alter ego.
That's not gonna fly though cause I'm not a cracka.

Except he didn't sell 1 billion, closer to 200 million (based on certified copies) and 135 million of those sales are certified by the RIAA (meaning US sales) meaning 70% of his sales came locally, if that's not the definition of local I don't know what is, especially considering the US is only 5% of the world population.
where are you even getting these numbers from?
Based on Certified copies in the US alone he sold over 200 Million.
Unoffically he sold like 600 million in the US and over 1 Billion worldwide.
400 Million outside the US is NOT considered local.

the fact that you use world population in this is retarded considering 90% of the worlds population ain't even buying albums like that.

And here's an extra fukk you for making me stick up for fukkin Elvis of all ppl lol

List of best-selling music artists - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

209 million from all markets

RIAA - Top Selling Artists - November 18, 2015

136 million from US market

the 1 billion or 600 million are claimed sales, not official or verified
