Punk didn't cause smarks to turn on Reigns. You could see the boos starting in Summer of 2014, they were pushing him over Ambrose (who was loved by smarks), and his push was very reminiscent of Cena's. But Punk did him no favors on that podcast either.

This is only a half work I think though. CM Punk seems angry all the time and like he believes his gimmick is and needs to be an 100% shoot.

I don't think Punk himself caused the turn, because the way Vince was setting things up (You know damn well the SS2014 moment with Sting was supposed to be Roman's moment before the injury) all but guaranteed Roman would get the Cena treatment at some point down the line. But Punk's comments definitely exacerbated the shift in perception from the fans and made that shyt happen ahead of schedule. Because this wasn't JUST coming from a jaded ex employee. This was coming from the guy who a vocal section of the fandom saw as the 1B to Cena's 1A for a solid 2-3 years prior and could do no wrong.

Rather than a gradual period of "Okay, he's nowhere near as good as they're making him out to be and still learning on the job, but they haven't fukked him up YET" we got with Cena before the mega push, These comments along with Vince's heavy-handed booking pretty much left no chance of him getting a fair shake at seeing what he could do and would take 3.5 years and a real-life illness to reset.

1) The Punk comments DEFINITELY sabotaged the idea of Roman. Fans were behind him in 2014, to the point that they were riding for him to win the Rumble the year of Wrestlemania XXX. "Make Roman Look Strong" instantly presented the idea that they were looking for Roman to take that Cena mantle and, once that happened, fans couldn't stop seeing Roman a "Vince guy"....

2) To this day, I always find it slightly humorous that "Make Roman Look Strong" comes from a match where CM Punk fairly cleanly defeated all three members of The Shield in a 3-on-1 handicap match on PPV.

A carnie is always working man and looking for that pay day, jesus christ

It makes sense... what does not liking someone on a personal level have to do with putting on good TV...

All that shyt does is leaves MFs sittin' around with hurt feelings. See: Hart, Bret or Punk, CM.

I know..a few cats are acting like the Rebel podcast didn't create the tension over Reigns....Reigns got booed two months after Punk exposed the booking behind him. Bryan did the emotional promo 2 weeks before Rumble 2015 when everyone thought Roman would win in predictable fashion....then when Bryan got tossed 10 MINUTES after entering to that pop..it set Roman up horribly. Thats why they got Rock involved..to try to save face from the idiocy of knowing fans wouldn't go for it.

Roman owes punk a 12 pack of Pepsi
Punk came up with the shield gimmick
Originally it was Rollins, Ambrose and Chris Hero
Roman was still wearing leis going by the name Leakee
However the brass liked his look and recommend him over Hero and Punk agreed in order to get his angle

So if punk didn’t come up with the gimmick Roman would not have been called up when he did :hubie:

CM Punk has a toxic personality depending on circumstances and he's so ego driven. He quit because he never main event Play Fighting Mania kind of says it all.

I think WWE brought the worst out of Punk in the end. Punk just didn't handle fame well either.
Not really CM Punk is no different than the other people who run to AEW etc Ryback said similar stuff to Reigns about punk but Once he was out of WWE Ryback saying the same bullshyt . I feel like punk is the first of the recent big guys to speak out . Punks biggest crime was burying hhh .

Punk took credit for The Shield and said he didn't want Reigns in the group. Called him a pretty boy.

Of course Roman don't like him :russ:
I think Punk had a problem with the fact that Reigns looked like an actual athlete while he himself looked like a random cameraman that had just jumped into a match. :mjlol:

Yeah I cant really take Roman seriously, this is obviously working a shoot for a hope of a programme more than actual resentment.

Theres obviously people online who saw this clip who still have similar resentment towards Punk (understandably so) and got love for Roman now with the heel gimmick (Understandably so)
but this is some carny shyt to say you didnt like the guy but still wanna do a match with him when its been obvious he wants nothing to do with wrestling anymore. Which is something I can respect about Punk for tbh. People in that industry do all that shyt talking bout him but still want him back, its just feels like pure carny succubus.

At this point, you kind of wish the wrestling business would just let Punk go. Any return he makes at this point won't live up to the one people have built up in their heads, and half the people clamoring for his comeback don't even like him. That's people both in the business and fans.

Granted, I think he's more open to the idea of returning than in previous years, but also like....why? Ain't nothing about the E changed; ain't nothing about Punk changed. It would be liking watching a toxic relationship where they break up just to get back together and go through the same shyt.
