also it makes sense for games to be phased out. the regular 32 bit version of XP only allows to address 4GB of ram...like if you're running modern games, you likely have a modern rig anyway...so it makes sense. theres not that much point in running 64bit XP, might as well run win7 if u go 64bit.

That operating system is almost 12 years old. they estimate it accounts for almost 40% of all web traffic.
Windows 8 usage: February 2013 numbers remain low | BGR
i sill have a copy of the 64 bit version of XP but i don't have a computer weak enough to diss by putting that OS on it.

I could maybe see using it on a work computer but for personal use if you own a computer that came with that OS chances are its so outdated it needs to be retired or maybe you're just a senior citizen that likes waiting 5 minutes for a full boot up just to check their AOL email account.

Acording to control panel, the compuer im on right now = XP, 1G RAM, 1.4 Ghz Petum Dual

how fast does that thing boot? my computer fully boots in 10 seconds or less on Windows 8. its gotten to the point that there's no reason to put the PC to sleep because the boot up time is so quick..

if you compare XP to win98....and especially the clusterfukk that win2000...its night and day...all cause microsoft realized to stop fukking around and use NT kernel.

95 and 98 were basically unsecure pieces of shyt which script kiddies of today would demolish in half an hour.

XP is still the most popular and stable consumer-based OS :manny:

dude boot times dont mean that much, theyre a factor of hard disc more so than the system.

you put a solid state drive on a winxp system and itll boot fast as fukk.

boot time is really irrelevant as far as measuring a systems performance.

at work i use xp...at home i use 7.

xp is solid as fukk considering how old it is...i can't disrespect it.
i do like 7 more and it is just as solid, just prettier and it boots faster.

from power button to log-on screen is maybe 90 seconds.

Then another 45 seconds to a minute while the desktop "warms up"

If AVG decided to update - its 3 - 4 minutes until i can open any programs

I used it up until a couple months ago. Windows 7/8 doesn't offer any real improvements over xp. My power supply went bad so I bought a new computer otherwise I'd still be using xp.

well i just did a cold boot and it was maybe 15 seconds so i was off but the shyt was fully booted. every Windows XP system i see you boot that shyt up and 3-5 minutes later its still loading up programs even if you can somewhat control it.

Windows 8 boots faster though.

you're not seeing bootups like that on XP.

Windows XP SP2 was incredibly stable, lots of places rolled it out and got REAL comfortable with it. Nobody was really trying to fukk with Vista, and a lot of places waited a while before switching to 7. I don't see places going with 8 either.

At my last job (worked there from 2009-2012), a lot of the computers still had XP when I started, and they didn't fully switch to Windows 7 until late-2010/early 2011. And this was a college.

xp boots up fast enough breh...I dont see how thats anything really important.

for someone who works in front of computer as much as 20 hours a day sometimes, Id say I wouldnt care what the boot time is as long as its not much over 5 mins
