That operating system is almost 12 years old. they estimate it accounts for almost 40% of all web traffic.
Windows 8 usage: February 2013 numbers remain low | BGR
i sill have a copy of the 64 bit version of XP but i don't have a computer weak enough to diss by putting that OS on it.

I could maybe see using it on a work computer but for personal use if you own a computer that came with that OS chances are its so outdated it needs to be retired or maybe you're just a senior citizen that likes waiting 5 minutes for a full boot up just to check their AOL email account.

i dont use it but i assume it does everything they need it to. i used it 2 years ago in a fouren internet cafe after not using it in years and it was just as good as Windows 7. most people including me are real basic on the computer we dont need all that special crap just to have it.

I stuck with it til W7 dropped. W7 will fukk around and be the new XP.

this

xp was first incredibly stable consumer level windows (NT was the real first stable M$ OS)...and it still is.

its also not very resource-hungry, compared to vista and even 7.

XP was a very solid build. Damn near flawless. A lot of businesses still use it because they see no reason to switch.

i think we've reached the point where many new software releases don't even support XP anymore. i abandoned Windows XP for Vista and never looked back. to me Windows Vista was straight if you had a decent spec PC. if you had over well over 2GBs of RAM it ran fine but everybody was coming from those weak XP computers with under 1GB and threw Vista on their PCs and they couldn't handle it.

i dropped Vista for 7 which was basically a better version of Vista. again when Windows 8 came out 7 got dropped. honestly i just bought 8 cause it was $15 for the upgrade back when you could enter fake details and get the upgrade for that. since the day i installed it i never even wanted to go back to 7.

honestly though last i remembered you had to actually find your drivers for devices back in XP. on most modern PCs even if you lose the disk if you plug most normal devices up they just work with general drivers the OS already has.

@winb83 Vista was a pile a crap and Windows 7 was a stop gap measure. Not much stuff is made for Windows XP but other then games what do you really need? Even the tax software can be run.

Vista would BSOD over a minor bug.

thats pathetic. :heh:

thats like people on mac os x 10.0
theres nothing pathetic about people on old systems if old systems work just fine.

theres zero point for companies to upgrade their hosts if their employees are doing basic shyt. this means they can keep giving them old machines and not upgrade

theres tons of servers out there running old linux kernels, and Ive never heard anyone complain

first of all, vista was awful in all aspects. resources werent optimized, the UAC was raw and underdeveloped and compatibility issues were horrific. 7 was actually an add-on to XP more so than vista.

second of all, your last paragraph...if youre a pc breh...Im kinda embarassed for ya there. if u havent fukked with manually installing drivers....

Why upgrade just to do it?

The only reason i bought a laptop with Windows 7 is because the IT department at my job said they were going to update the software to work with it.
