So abandon 1000s of years of tribal tradition for colonialism fueled nationalism?
I think people should be able to love who they love and marry who they want and those who want to keep it in the tribe should also have that option without being judged

I do too, but not to the detriment of millions and millions of others. If your 1000s if years of tribal traditions provided for the security of its people against foreign aggression then I could see it. But it seems to me those traditions are too easily used to manipulate and manufacture conflict and dissension.

This ain’t back then. Serious Black people understand that we’re in a global fight for our survival and to me that trumps any fukkin tribe or traditions. I’m looking to the next 1000 years.

How are we gonna get Yorubas, Hausas, Igbos, and other Nigerian ethnic groups on code when the Igbos alone in this very thread are at odds with each other and at each others neck-lol.

I don't see any Igbos fighting themselves... we tend to stay on code due to our history.

Said dude’s grandmom was raped.

And you think they can form one country?

For those of you who don't know, that poster is referring to the hundreds, if not thousands, of Igbo women who were kidnapped, raped and forced to marry the (mostly Northern) Nigerian soldiers who invaded Igbo land towards the end of the Biafran War. I hope you now all see why all of the Igbos in this thread are so anti-Nigeria.

Nothing
Brother there’s nothing complicated about what’s going on over there. African history reads no different than any other peoples history where whites have shown up and stopped the natural progressions the indigenous people and nations they conquer go thru. Even when whites have conquered other white nations.

Nothing special about it. The entire continent was conquered and now it’s governed according to white and Asian interests.

Let me ask you, say y’all do have your little civil conflict and are able to establish Biafra...what then?
And then what? Biafrans will finally achieve self determination and also we wouldn't have to live under the threat of islamic fanatics like Boko Haram taking over the country.

i see. and then i guess you figure ya'll will go live peacefully ever after.

tell you what. appeal to the white man over here. i know that region is rich in mineral resources. he'll be happy to fund your side in the upcoming civil war, and let the chinese or french or russians fund the other side like they did in rwanda. then they'll sit back and watch yall kill each other off like they did in rwanda, but this time in the in the tens of millions. then he'll step in with his chinese or russian partners and they'll split it all between them. like they do in the congo.

That insult was quite strange given that despite those atrocities, Igbos kept our ethnic identity intact. Yorubas succumbed to the Fulani Jihad and are half Muslim today. Moreover, many Yoruba traditional leaders are Muslim or of Fulani heritage.

No such thing occurred in Igboland and kingdoms such as Nri and Onitsha still exist today, ruled by pure Igbos.

I wasn’t too offended given I took it as projection of what actually occurred in Yoruba history.
:yeshrug:

Another thing which is funny is Yorubas poorly attempt to insult Igbos but expect us to love Nigeria. Your words prove to us, and outsiders that leaving Nigeria is just and inevitable. Light and darkness do not mix.

Yorubas and Middle Belt groups don’t want us to leave because they fear total Hausa-Fulani domination (if Yorubas were smart, they’d push to leave as well). They want Igbos to fight their political and economic battles for them. Theophilus Danjuma, a Middle Belt military officer in the 60s, admitted this. Now his people are being slaughtered by Fulani herdsmen.

Everyone gets a turn in Nigeria
