It did a great job showing of how bearing the guilt was on Michael from ordering the hit of his brother.
The movie felt colder. That usual family bond that you had in the first two wasn't there. Everyone seemed distant and the familiarity wasn't there.
In general I liked how the movie had a darker more lonesome tone to it. In that sense it provided something different than last two films shared.

You are the only one that I know who has seen all 3 that actually rate the 3rd one highly.
The mafia pope thing was garbagely laid out, andy garcia a being Sonny's kid was lame as fukk, the incest between sonny's kid and micheal's daughter, no Hagen, sophia copella's terrible acting, all overshadowed the pretty good parts of Micheal's character arc to the point where I don't even have interest in rewatching it.

I mistyped, I should have said a sequel that is better than the first movie, when the first is considered a classic as well.
I've watched that Fredo scene with Michael so many damn times...I've watched the Young Vito returning to Italy to avenge his parents so many times too. De Niro was fukking UNSTOPPABLE in that movie...he was the best actor in Godfather II, bar none.
