Until about 2008.....maybe 2009. After that, I pretty much stopped listening, he never went anywhere that a maturing rapper needs too. Something stunted around that time period. Or the drugs just burned him out.

A lot of The Carter 3 unreleased, he was pushing himself creatively, I Feel Like Dying, I'm Me, Pray To the Lord, p*ssy Money Weed

from the production to the song concepts, he was moving in a new direction, and then it just seemed to kind of fade away. and to me, he got really repetitive.
