updates?!?:damn:

NHC will have a new update at the top of the hour, including a new track.

In terms of the storm right now, it looks as if the Eyewall Replacement Cycle is about to complete and it's about to strengthen once again. There is some shear on the SW side of the storm that could prevent it from getting too strong.

NEW YORK, NY –
Hurricane Florence looks set to miss New York City, focusing its "life-threatening" fury instead on the Carolinas and forcing the evacuation of a million people from the East Coast. But the city will not totally escape its impact, forecasts show.

Florence, currently a category 4 hurricane, is expected to reach the Mid-Atlantic by Thursday night. It could be approaching a category 5 storm when it does, the National Weather Service warned.

The National Hurricane Center's Tuesday morning update showed the incredible devastation that could be in store for the Carolinas and beyond. It also showed how far north the storm's impact could reach after a slight northbound shift.

New York City is on the outskirts of the storm's reach, but will still be hit by up to two inches of rain, the forecast shows\

:whoo::whew: We got lucky this time...

Praying for the rest of y'all:huhldup::damn:

Where are people going that have been evacuated?

Here, from the coast you to your nearest evacuation locations, they mostly funnel people from the coast to Columbia all the interstate lanes are turned to go directly there. Then they have schools and churches, etc. set up as shelters. Or you can get a hotel room if you can find one. Best scenario if you can is to go to Augusta or to Greenville if you want to get further away.

While coastal communities in the Carolinas are preparing for landfall from Hurricane Florence, Virginia is bracing for a life-threatening flood event impacting communities across the state.

The latest forecast calls for 6-15 inches of rain across Northern Virginia.

At 5 a.m., Florence was 410 miles south of Bermuda with maximum sustained winds of 140 mph, according to the National Hurricane Center.
