This is it, Hunter X Hunter Fans! Your favorite manga is officially back! An announcement has been made by Viz Media that Yoshihiro Togashi’s popular manga will debut on April 18, 2016.
According to Anime News Network, the “North American anime and manga distributor Viz Media confirmed at its C2E2 panel on Saturday” that Hunter X Hunter manga series will return and will be published in its Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. Obviously, author Yoshihiro Togashi is now better and ready to resume working on his manga series.
Crunchyroll states that the return of Togashi has been teased already since Tuesday, March 15. In less than a month from now, “the long-awaited serialization of Yoshihiro Togashi’s Hunter x Hunter manga” will premiere since its last hiatus in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine 20th issue.
The report also mentions that Hunter X Hunter will pick up where it left off and continue the Dark Continent arc. Based on the record, there are already 10 chapters that were written in this arc. The arc began with chapters 340, and the last chapter written by Togashi before he began his hiatus in 2014 was chapter 349.
As of press time, the news has not been widely spread. The Hunter X Hunter community in Reddit is not making any noises about the good stuff. So far, there are just a handful of 9 registered users that have commented positively to this announcement.
Or could it be that fans are no longer excited and got tired of waiting? Remember, Togashi never missed a year; he would always publish a few chapters. But 2015, according to Rocketnews24, “was a disappointing year for Hunter x Hunter fans, as the manga didn’t appear in Weekly Shonen Jump at all during the 12 months, ending a 25-year record for series creator Yoshihiro Togashi.” Well, everything comes to an end, and Yoshihiro Togashi’s long hiatus is now over.
