I think he was trying too hard to be RZA, so it all gets lost. RZA is unique to pull off though. If he talks more assertive, he loses the Zen master angle he seems to be going for, and the voice...

The one thing I like, but also hate about this show is how they aren't even touching on a fraction of RZA's intelligence. They've mentioned it, but it's what made this entire thing work. But I do like how they're using that time to display Divine & Power's contributions and intelligence, and every one else's creative process.

I feel like they did a good job of showcasing his intelligence AND maturity during the second half of season 2. Even with a tv show it would be near impossible to show just HOW much a genius RZA was with having to tell EIGHT OTHER stories as well as Divine and Power’s stories as well. Its a hard nut to crack but I feel the show has really done the best that anybody could and having RZA himself at the helm helps add authenticity to it.

This season seems to be focusing on the musical aspect and the pressure RZA was under to deliver all of those solo albums BY HIMSELF which in itself showcases a level of genius that nobody in Hip Hop has ever achieved. Not Premier, not Kanye, not Manny Fresh, NOBODY did what RZA did. Plus he was the creative mind behind most of the videos, art work, promo material, AND was ghostwriting ODB’s lyrics (alongside GZA)

They’re subtly showing all of that this season and the toll it took on him. Dude got all of the Wu living good in a mansion while he’s holed up in a basement stressing about making deadlines. Not showering. His girl left him. ODB out doing stupid reckless shyt and RZA gotta cover for him by making TEN BEATS IN ONE NIGHT!

So your telling they chose to do that bullshyt episode over doing an episode of RZA doing Gravediggaz or RZA setting up Wu affiliates like killarmy and sunz of man? What a joke

Gravediggaz second album didn’t come out until AFTER Wu-Tang Forever. This season is leading up TO Wu-Tang Forever so narratively it makes no sense whatsoever to include them when this is a WU-TANG focused series.

Same thing for Sunz Of Man and Killarmy. Narratively they don’t fit into the story of how the group WU-TANG took over the industry. This is about RZA pulling off the five year plan, and ODB’s album was a crucial part of that plan. It set ODB up as solo star, extended the Wu-Tang brand’s fledgling dominance, and was nominated for a Grammy. If anything, the criticisms should be aimed at them kind of skipping over the making of ‘Tical’ and only referencing its impact as a hindsight (but as this is the last season and there’s a lot to cover one can forgive them this)

I highly doubt you’ll see any references to Wu Affiliated besides MAYBE Killah Priest, they don’t fit with what the series narrative is.

Imagine doing an episode focusing on one of the most iconic and well known figures in hip hop rather than some bums that nobody cares about.
And I say this as a huge fan of Sunz and Killarmy. Come on man

Razor Sharp IS the RZA version

There’s three versions of the song in total. Which is why in the episode when Divine says “The label wants a remiz” RZA says “I already did that”. The “That” in question was “Razor Sharp”.

Diddy did the third version which won the Grammy, but really it was produced by Track Masters. Diddy sharked their credit as he was known to do back then.

Well they disgrace Dirty by having himself as an actor in the 70s, If Dirty was so iconic then why not make an episode of Dirty making return of the 36 Chambers, him doing shows with Biggie, him starting his crew brooklyn zu, him doing a song with Mariah carey? You call those other dudes bums? You do realise Dirty was a crack head
