NEW? This shyt is over 20 years old, the fukk are you talking about new trend? This album came out in 2004 and WAS NOT the first to do it.

And there has been a steady stream of them since this came out.

Read the damn OP

Encore deluxe had 3 new tracks. The modern deluxe albums are entire albums of b-sides. Nav, Uzi, Herb deluxes are 14 tracks. Lil Wayne deluxe was 8 tracks.

Deluxe albums don’t feel like a “new” thing to me. Whats going on now is nothing more than an exaggeration of what started in and around 2010, when you’d get a couple extra bonus tracks depending on if you brought an album off itunes or Google Music or Amazon Music you’d get 1-2 bonus tracks.

Then around 2012 it became bigger. I remember Nas’s Life Is Good and Kendrick Lamar’s Good Kid Mad City had both standard and “Deluxe”’editions. PLUS another extra song if you brought the albums on Itunes.
Nas deluxe came with 4 songs, iTunes edition had 1 extra song, Japan version had 1 extra song.

Kendrick deluxe had 3 extra songs, iTunes edition had 2 extra songs, Target edition had 2 extra songs.

These new deluxes are 14 songs. Not everyone released a deluxe now every rapper is.

I understand that, what i’m saying is that these new generation “Deluxes” are just offshoots of those. Streaming services don’t really do “exclusives” anymore besides the semi annual Jay-Z album which will of course run on Tidal for a week or two before being released everywhere else.

So the only way to get those streaming numbers up is to drop deluxes, which in themselves could be whole new albums. Think of it as if Frank Ocean dropped “Endless” and then later dropped “Endless Deluxe” which was just the Blonde album now tracked onto Endless tracklisting.

I’m not saying I necessarily agree with it but i’m not SURPRISED by it either

Exactly. Eminem also did it on Curtain Call in 2005 by adding a whole extra 'mixtape' to it. It is the same concept.

@ISO you didn't even use contriarian properly but good try big guy, look definitions of words up before you use them:snoop:

It’s not exactly :mjlol:

And yes y’all being contrarians it’s a simple fukking point and y’all wanna go against the grain so bad and clearly you can’t read.

No you idiot, the definition involves going against popular opinion. Saying Jay-z is a terrible rapper is being a contrarian. Not agreeing with your dumbass premise, is not, because it isn't a popular opinion.

Eminem did this on Curtain Call by adding a whole 'mixtape' to the end of it and calling it a Deluxe version in 2005. So the concept was there prior, you are wrong.

U idiot fukk Eminem and something that happened in 2005

I’m talking about today. Nav, Lil Uzi, G-Herbo, Lil Durk, Lil Baby, A-Boogie, Lil Wayne, Moneybagg Yo, Gunna, etc. all dropping deluxe albums with 9-14 tracks on top of their album all this year

Stop trying to prove me “wrong” dummy. In no era of rap has damn near every popular rapper been throwing out deluxe albums with over 10 tracks after their album drops.

It always gotta be one special retard in every thread thinking they smarter than the room fukk outta here

And yes you’re being a contrarian. Well technically ass. Yes you are most people in this thread see it, OP has a decent amount of daps but you’re in here trying your hardest to act like artists been doing this. :mjlol:

You acted like all this way brand new, it wasn't. You've been told by MULTIPLE people now with MULTIPLE examples. Wunna Deluxe is exactly what you were just told, instead of having multiple exclusives for each streaming service and/or retailer they rolled all of them into one. All are throwaway tracks.

You are wrong. It isn't a new concept. I am not being a contrarian because there is no popular opinion in this thread lol. Again, saying Jay-z can't rap is a contrarian opinion because everyone knows that he in fact can.

You have google you dumbass, go look up definitions of words before you use them.
