That’s what they doing now.

Go look at Nav and Uzi deluxes. It’s whole new albums. Lil Baby threw out 6 tracks for his deluxe.

A-Boogie and Durk got a deluxe coming soon too.

When you ain't rappin about shyt or recycling the same street shootin' shyt, it's easy.

Ice Cube and NWA used to release an EP with all the shut that didn't make the album along with one or 2 new tracks. I like as long as we are getting new shyt though, especially for the legacy artist and real hip hop artists.

Being that all the new artists seem to be doing it

It has to be a mandate from the labels :jbhmm:

It depends on the artists I guess. I don't listen to Uzi much, but I'm glad he dropped the "deluxe" version cause the first one was mid compared to that one. I guess this gives bad/mediocre/subpar/whatever artists a chance to strike while the iron is hot and just put as much material out there to see what sticks. It's about quantity over quality for them. You more than likely won't see people like Krit, Gibbs, Kendrick, Cole, GxFR, Pusha T, etc spam their product like that.

Uzi regular shyt was overhyped and mid and the deluxe was better but the mixing and cohesiveness was off

Yea some artists are getting hip to that too. They're rearranging the track list instead of just adding them to the bottom. Moneybagg Yo did this for Time Served

So what people end up doing is just listening to the whole album again cause people don't wanna be sifting through picking the bonuses

I'd have a stronger opinion if any of this applied to artists I listen to and care about.

Nobody I'm a fan of does this so I really have no feelings towards it
Fair enough, and it's interesting to hear from y'all side of things..

I listen to a lot, mainstream, under a rock songs, whatever... we're taking notice of a trend that's practically a loop hole to boost album sales and appear more successful. It's little stuff like this that makes me dislike a lot of business models.

If it's more music I enjoy than great.

Hilarious to hear fans complain about artists strategies to help sell their product when fans are the reason why shyt is the way it is now.

What’s up with this? A deluxe used to mean 3 extra tracks. Not all albums that dropped had a deluxe either. Sometime it used to be a deal with a specific brick and mortar retailer or iTunes or an international edition thing.

All these dudes are dropping whole other albums now and calling it a deluxe.

stupid, tryna get those streams up.

Just do what G-Unit did, drop a album and then weeks later drop a mixtape.

Increased streams. Also a good way to keep interest in your project during this pandemic, when rappers can't promote normally (interviews, videos, etc).

Weeknd managed to stretch the discussion of his album for weeks by releasing remixes and the new a deluxe edition of new songs.
