So do they pay themselves when a 1st party game has “high engagement”? How does that translate to more money being made outside an actual purchase, if current game pass subscribers are the ones logging in hours?
Gamepass cost money.

Halo still a top ten gamepass game for like 3 years now. Meaning people have been paying~ $15 a month for the last 3 years to access that game. The money adds up quick. And that’s not even talking about spending money on DLC.

Y’all pretend gamepass itself is free, it’s not. They also have metrics showing when people are engaged with one game they tend to spend more money on the ecosystem in general. Why do you think sony is concentrating on engagement over “sales”??

Hey man, straight from sony

Engagement is key

You can make up your own stan scenarios to downplay it. But straight from both CEOs that’s the most important metric. And xbox had a great quarter

I'm sorry but Spencer got to own this. The Xbox Series launched completely under his leadership and direction. Has nothing to do with Mattrick. The score was 0-0 and they could have kept pace with their competitor.

Hell they could have kept pace with their last piece of hardware or even just slightly underperformed it. The Xbox One sold around 58 million units the Xbox Series consoles are going to be lucky to even pass the 40 million mark. If they can't even sell 1 million in a holiday quarter they're probably selling under 3 million systems a year.

Regardless of what happens they need to fire him or force him to resign. He can't continue to lead them with results like that. Mattrick was outta there for way better performance. shyt is like the Lions firing Caldwell for Patricia and them just keeping Patricia instead of moving on to Campbell. It's people on this forum that could probably run the division as good as the results he's getting. fukk it our numbers are down let's buy Take Two or EA next to prop them up then give everybody promotions.

Series consoles are already at ~ 30 mill sold. They will get close to 58.

This was not the holiday quarter.

They actually had the best december ever for xbox

and they sold ~8 million consoles in 2023

You are making up numbers and assumptions to promote your narrative, but the truth paints a very different picture

Ironically even with them purposely sacrificing console sales to grow elsewhere, Series is still keeping a similar ratio to playstation as last gen.

~30 mil vs ~60 mill is actually a better ratio then where X1 landed and they’ve grown their customer base tremendously elsewhere.

Yes phil will own turning the xbox into a leading publisher on multiple platforms, and setting the brand up for the future :ehh:

what game do they got that’s gonna make the ecosystem? They gambled on Starfield and that barely even moved the needle. I guess that mobile store is going to be crucial

“Barely moved the needle” what does that even mean?

The game was very successful and will have very long legs as all Bethesda games do.

Again they reported this last quarter was their best as far as engagement on xbox consoles

People buy lots of games, and DLC and subscriptions on xbox consoles.

“Console warz” makes yall ignore all that and just concentrate on the consoles sold number in comparison to playstation.

Sony announced that their profit will go UP because they will sell LESS consoles. That shyt is stupid. The money is made elsewhere.

All they had to do was keep it up on software, but they chose to ride narratives and bomb beloved IPs with rushed launches instead. :francis:

You're thumping your chest about them selling possibly 36% of what their closest competitor sold.

Meanwhile:
The Game Pass subs were so bad they hid the numbers for 2 years before updating them to investors and Nadella had Game Pass metrics removed from his bonuses because they couldn't grow it to reach goals.
Their hardware has flatlined to the point they're putting games they never intended to have on rival hardware platforms.
The only thing growing at the division is the third party publisher they just bought.

I would think you liked Xbox enough to admit that dude is destroying it at this point? Was his objective when he took over to buy Bethesda and Activision Blizzard and just turn Xbox into a third party publisher dependent on other platforms for any sort of growth because if so he's succeeded. They got all these studios and their software pipeline is as abysmal as it's ever been.

breh this you.

Like i said, everything is console wars to you.

You were just dead wrong with pretty much everything you said, and now you just pivoted to “well playstation sold more”

sony stan’s :mjlol:

More stan narratives.

This is the reality for xbox.

We have already gone over this and you dodge the question every time.

Phil spencer admitted to losing the console war and pivoted the xbox business and got a promotion.

Jim Ryan won the console war and got fired.

You tell me why that makes sense :mjpls:
