I'm sorry but White House staffers shouldnt even be allowed to go anywhere but work and home.

The president is not a young man and is potentially high risk if he catches covid. Its reckless speculation obviously but if you're in the White House you shouldnt be going to happy hours and shyt right now
Where does it say that staffer went to happy hour? And should they not be allowed to goto the store to buy groceries and toiletries?

I said I was recklessly speculating

I dont know White House policy.

They should have home delivery services for goods.

The man is old and has god knows what medical history. This is the president. It's not fun or fair but at the very least, if someone is scheduled to be in close proximity to him for an extended time they should quarantine out of an abundance of caution

Who knows what this person was up to but it's fair to assume that the passengers of that flight were set for quite a while. If I'm biden and a mid level staffer is scheduled to be on AF1 in a week or so, I'm telling them to work from home (if they arent at the WH) and am expensing groceries to be sent to their house

Unfortunately, it's not going to pass so they really don't have anything to worry about :francis:

But still, part of me wishes Biden would go on TV and say no Dem will ever get elected again if it doesn't. As much as I hate Trump he's far more effective at motivating his base than any Dem right now.

THREAD for those who believe Biden's presidency is a bust so far:

I don't think a lot of that hits with the common person. These silver linings need to be packaged better and sold to the public in a better manner.

Then there's things like the Broadband section supposedly providing more oversight to ensure completeness, but I have doubts on addressing the historical problem of ISPs taking the money first to "subsidize" new construction and then doing nothing with it. They'll take the big pot now and pay a much smaller fine later.

In fact, a key part here from an Ars Technica article:

Biden's first plan would have prioritized funding for broadband networks owned by municipalities, non-profits, and co-operatives, but that didn't make it into the final bill.

This would have been a substantial change to operations, and provided better competition than giving the ISPs more tax money. But that got removed. :francis:

A lot of it comes down to poor messaging, and poor media management.

If I was Biden I'd be hiring some people with expertise on dealing with the media (news networks and social media) because right now the GOP is wildly more competent in those areas.

Who's the target? Damn near everyone who post in this thread is aware of this, but they're still pushing the narrative it's a bust.

Polarization isn't just left vs right. And Biden's numbers are high with registered dems arent they?

The targets should be people who maybe lean left but don't follow politics closely (ie. not the type of people who post in HL) and get most of their news from social media or flipping the channel.

The Dems biggest problem is low turnout in midterms. They got screwed in 2010 because of that and 2022 is looking like it might be even worse. Dems need to focus on convincing people who voted in 2020 that they should vote again.

For one I think the Dems need more goons on social media. Right now something like, say, Facebook is mostly dominated by right-wing reactionary :trash: and a lot of people absorb it.
