What I don’t get is why do Dems make big promises on the campaign trail but once they get to power don’t deliver on said promises? Why bother tricking your voters to only disappoint them? The DNC isn’t serious about student loan reform so it’s best to dead it.

I see the big picture I dgaf when you don't deliver. My vote ain't free. Democrats want to be Republicans so bad while Republicans become fascists. Fukk it this what they want let em have it.

All politicians make promises but passing laws require compromise, negotiation and luck

But biden announcing repayment will start 2 weeks before Christmas is dumb af. Omicron is a good excuse to keep the pause on. It’s just bad look for any president to restart those payments. Just keep kicking the can down the road. Who gives af at this point

the idea that Republicans gain from this is laughable, Republicans aren’t smart enough to run on canceling student loans

There's too many Democrats that are bought out by corporations. Unfortunately there's cats in here that will cape for them and are satisfied with crumbs or nothing at all.:francis:

You as a Coli breh have a vote equal to the richest person in this country. The common man however outnumbers the elite a million to one. The majority of politicians will say what they need to say for the masses and then the priorities shift once in office. You as common voter do not guarantee them the high paying corporate gig once they leave office. The worst you as a common voter can do them is not vote for them on the next election.

Dems know they can keep giving empty promises because the current system allows for only two parties to exist. We all despise Republicans but what other viable options do we have? On top of that we are a nation of 330 million people and still have 535 people representing us. The highest bidder wins.

People just convinced themselves that Bernie and Warren were going to convince Biden to do something he never committed to. Now they're disappointed.

And instead of Dems pitching the fight with their peers, (hello filibuster) they'd rather pitch pie in the sky executive proposals that may or may not be legal and could easily be reversed from admin to admin.

At some point the discussion should be heavily focused on the fact that the legislative branch doesn't want to legislate and their failure to do so is pushing the country closer and closer to facism. :yeshrug:

There's more important things happening in this country but just not in the eyes of the people complaining. Very self centered.

If Biden did it via executive action today it would be means tested, likely similar to what we saw in the legislation proposed last week starting at 100k income.

The same folks would still be unhappy just as they were when he said 10k.

:hubie:

even if repayment starts back, because it always was because they were never going to forgive all student debt, wouldn't folks still benefit if a debt relief package happens down the road?
