He doesn’t care about the rest of the world like a true American imperialist.

whether thats true or not is besides the point. unvaccinated folks are helping cause mutations and different variants. getting the rest of the world more vaccinated is in the best interest of the american people domestically as its less likely to spiral out of control here. im growing fearful that its too late for that though.

Fam, he doesn’t care about the rest of the world. I am one of the few people on here that been talking about needing to get vaccines to the rest of the world and no one cares.

Why hasn’t Biden ended them?
My post wasn’t criticizing Biden, so please hop off his old and saggy nuts.

My post said both Biden and Trump admins and both congresses created this situation for people.

But as I said before, there has been no talk on extending this or doing things to make sure people can be out of poverty and not rely on government stimulus money. All of this ends Sept. 6.

Fwiw, China is sending a lot of their vaccine globally and maybe Biden wants to hoard for future booster shots? Trying to find logic here other than apathy or ambivalence. Itd be nice if the US filled in some of the gaps that China isnt filling though. I dont think the administration can do more domestically to get current unvaccinated vaccinated unless they lock down interstate travel (which would be a disaster). The only remaining catalyst would probably be FDA approval but even then I think we wouldnt see much of an uptick because amongst the unvaccinated, organizations such as the FDA are not trusted in the first place

The only way to get vaccines around the world is through the TRIPS waiver, but Biden doesn’t support it and neither does Germany.

That would force Pfizer, Moderna, J&J and others to give up the IP on this and let other companies create their own versions of the vaccine.

But Pfizer made something like $50 billion in the first two quarters of this year and have no interest and letting that bag go.

So it’s not just apathy or lack of concern or hoarding.

It’s cold hard capitalism.

And America fights wars for its corporate partners.

Biden doesn’t care. He would be one of the greatest presidents ever if he told those companies to open up the IP and end this pandemic. He would deservedly win a Nobel Peace Prize and get worldwide acclaim. America’s reputation would be its highest since WW2, but it’s not in his political calculus and just not the type of person he is.

. The United States will share vaccines in service of ending the pandemic globally. Today, the Administration announced its framework for sharing these 80 million U.S. vaccine doses worldwide. Specifically, the United States will:

Share 75% of these vaccines through COVAX. The United States will share at least three-quarters of its donated doses through COVAX, supplying U.S. doses to countries in need. This will maximize the number of vaccines available equitably for the greatest number of countries and for those most at-risk within countries. For doses shared through COVAX, the United States will prioritize Latin America and the Caribbean, South and Southeast Asia, and Africa, in coordination with the African Union.

Share 25% for immediate needs and to help with surges around the world. The United States has received requests for vaccines from countries all over the world. The U.S. will share up to one-quarter of its donated doses directly with countries in need, those experiencing surges, immediate neighbors, and other countries that have requested immediate U.S. assistance. Specifically, we will:
