Democrats don't have a majority. There's 48 Democratic senators + 2 independent senators that caucus with Democrats.
A 48(+2)/50 Senate is not a majority. However, yes, Democrats must get more done.

Kamala can only vote if there's a tie. The Senate is operationally 48(+2)/50 - that's NOT a majority
Also, even so 51/50 is the narrowest "majority" possible. No room for error and there's a greater opportunity for individual Senators to wield power in such a narrow "majority" (like we see currently with Manchin & Sinema).
