So it’s June and these dudes are still running victory laps on doing one thing - the Covid bill from early this year. While getting the pandemic under control and masterfully rolling out vaccines is also impressive, it’s sort of like ensuring a toilet flushes properly: no one praises a plumber when shyt works like it should work, or praises him endlessly when he fixes a plumping problem. This is not a winning issue.

I’ve been quiet for awhile, content to let Manchin do his media campaign and make himself the center of all things. My assumption was that it was for show, and eventually he’d come to Jesus and we would do reconciliation. But the longer this drags on the more dangerous it becomes. Remember, Manchin’s initial position was that up to 4T in spending was fine and raising taxes was needed. He even said republicans rejecting any tax increases wouldn’t be fair. Now he’s essentially fine with republicans getting whatever they want.

He’s dug himself into a hole. If talks fail then he has to admit he’s not good at working with republicans. So he’s gonna keep extending this shyt. Democrats need to get something done NOW. I’ll give it to the end of June. After that, reconciliation and dare him to vote against it.

Exactly, Trump passed a covid relief package too and set the precedent for future pandemic relief bills, no one here argues that he should have been re-elected because of that. If Biden and Dems can't get a handful of Dems to support meaningful legislation via reconciliation, it's a wrap. Too many voters are going to sit out the next elections due to disillusionment.

Please stop posting this nonsense

Even King is smart enough to recognize obstruction when he sees it.

So why can you see king at face value then act like manchin isn’t to be taken at face value?

It’s a song and dance here. Manchin votes more with democrats than Bernie does!

:gucci: maybe its the fact that he openly says despite his feelings about the filibuster, he wouldn't let the fight behind it keep him from going along with its removal to save this country from itself.

That's a lot more than the Senator from the "great" state of WV has compromised on.

This has absolutely nothing to do with what I’m talking about. Democrats can use reconciliation one more time. If Biden wants to sit back and let Manchin determine nothing gets done he deserves to be a one term president. Like I said I’m fine with letting Manchin do his thing for now since it’s largely performative. After this month, and the summer recess? No more. Start reconciliation and dare him to fukk it up.

He had no argument after the end of this month. Biden has been incredibly bipartisan to the point he cut his proposal by more than half. Yet republicans are playing games with Covid money and that’s ok? They will never agree to a deal so call their bluff next month and move on.

Factor in new parliamentarian ruling and reconciliation is almost over
