What about relocation? the problem for me is that I'm not a 2 or 3 hour drive away from where I want to relocate. I have to fly and can't just take off work to fly at a last minute notice. I have family in Philly whose address I can use but you can't hide everything. Also I could really use the relocation package Between flying, shipping car and other household items, getting a place as well. It would be easier to do this with a relocation package. However, most jobs don't offer these packages and I don't want that to stop me from relocating. I can relocate on my own. However, that will put me in a bind and I can possibly miss out on a great package. Flying, shipping car or driving it, shipping items, down payment for a place, etc. No job offer yet but am looking. I have 3 choices. Looking to move to the east coast(1. Philly, 2. DMV, 3. Jersey)
  1. Put relative's local address on resume and move on my own

  2. Be honest about everything including relocation package.

  3. Be honest and say I can relocate on my own(miss out on package)

Don't ask for relocation until after you accept a job offer. Once you're hired, it's easier to negotiate. Ask, all they can say is yes or no. I've done this and have had them pay and others say no. Good luck.

So even when i'm doing well at interviews i'm still not getting the job 5 months without work brehs
full

Couple of recent interviews have been soul crushing recruiter calling me up with post interview feedback telling me how great i had done only for them to go completely cold or after a few days pull a 360 and make a decision to go with someone else. They need to stop getting my hopes up before a decision has even been made i don't want to know much of a 'great fit' i am or how well i interviewed before an offer is official or i am through to the next round :snoop:

I got a job interview with apple (specialist) next week. I'm reading they do group interviews up to 70 people, and one on ones. I think/hope mine will be a group of only four people, including myself. I'd much rather prefer one on one interviews but i'm confident i will adapt:jawalrus:. My resume didn't have a cover letter or anything. When i bring a copy of my resume to the interview, should i have cover page? Also, my resume is only one job, that was technically volunteer work (boys and girls club). I've only had one other job interview in my life (i'm 25, been in community college for computer science, and didn't finish), and i didn't get the job:mjcry:. I'm trying to find my first REAL job, and work there long term. Any (current/former) apple employees in here. I'd appreciate any input. I plan on preparing all this weekend, and praying for the best.

Brooklyn keeps on taking it.

I had a hirevue interview this past Saturday that I messed up on. Luckily after the fact I realized that the job was in the wrong city (not going anywhere past Wilmington), so I’m using that as a practice. I have another Hirevue for a job in Brooklyn but I’m waiting till Friday morning to do it and using today to go over questions about myself that I want to answer quickly and clearly during the interview.

I have a good feeling of getting this job. It's a little low job to help me pay bills through school. Funny enough I've been applying at the hospital for damn near two years with constant rejections. They'll reject me in less than 24 hours. I got pissed in August and decided to remove all of my education and only left high school graduate. Would you believe these folks contacted me and I got an interview lol. I lied and said I wasn't in college but I made sure to come of educated and knock the interview out the park. The manager seems to like me and sent me an email that low key confirmed that I'm hired. But I don't get a formal response until next week.

Been struggling mightily to get a job and have lost hope at this point, I live in central NJ and have a BA in Graphic Design, but after a year of applying I've gotten nothing and nothing, your random staffing companies will call but never respond, I've had interviews but they all go in another direction. IDK brehs is it me? is it my resume? :mjcry:, I've had to take a bum ass retail job just for money and I hate it

Honestly bro, I think its ok-decent I'm pretty good at logo designs and making flyers atleast staffing companies have told me ( I can PM you it if you'd like, it had all my personal info on it so I kinda dont want to link it here) Just losing hope man, doubting if I'm even good in this field and if I need to go back to school

I think your efforts should go into making your portfolio more towards the decent-excellent side of things. Once you have that then spending a little bit of time showcasing that on linked in and see where it gets you

What medase said is right, your skills can be shown with your line of work - show them your work and really practice your skill. Also make sure to not just apply to jobs but directly look for the person who runs HR/hiring and send them an email. Start by at least applying to 2-5 jobs per day.

Also begin looking not just at graphic designer job but search for specific tools you are good at, like if you are good at photoshop - specifically look at jobs entailing that role.

This. Whenever I apply I look on LinkedIn for the person handling that account. That way it shows that you're actually interested in talking to the person and would like to know more.

Research from what I've learned isn't just the company. You should also check out what the hiring manager does, learn more about them, etc.

In interviewing I'm realizing that scripts are lame as fukk. Be prepared but don't try to sound to robotic.

How have you been applying? In your line of work you should have a portfolio. Hit LinkedIn up with everything that you are. Network, network, network. You have to work to get the better position man, it's something I'm learning. Applying can only get you so far.
