It was hyped up before release as some sort of special effects 3d masterpiece and everyone bought into it.I don't remember much from 2009...was Avatar really a phenomenon like that?
it's funny cuz even tho it's the #1 highest grossing film of all time, it didn't make much of a dent in pop culture. in a weird way, feel like it's a mostly forgotten film in the modern landscape of pop culture
if Marvel, after 20 films of build-up can't beat Avatar, I don't think any film is for a long, long time![]()
3D tickets costed about twice a much as a regular ticket. You do the math.
it was the “perfect” blockbuster film

Overall the story was basic as hell though. But the effects for the most part did live up to expectation. I do remember watching it in 3d and being impressed.
It came out in December. It wasn’t a blockbuster, just good marketing and hype.
He already has the tech. He's just taking his merry fukking time.Yea only reason it cant be topped because people were paying for tickets that are double regular admission. So you add that to the fact it was MUST-SEE you not gonna see a movie put up those numbers again
Thats why james cameron is probably waiting for some new cutting edge technology before he does part 2
Avatar is the only movie ive ever seen where the world was so beautiful it made me depressed about real life..
I got my money on CamWe taking bets on whats gonna release first? Avatar 2 or Winds of Winter?
