The MTA in NYC has wasted millions upon millions of dollars in taxpayer monies over the years. As already stated, they have little to show it. They are probably one of most wasteful agency in all of this country. But they could do that bec NYers and regional commuters had no choice. MTA workers can make anywhere from 2 to 6x their annual salaries in overtime and many of them no show OT. MTA at one time got busted for using two sets of accounting books with one to show they were losing $. That agency is corrupt to its bone and especially workers at the LIRR, man dont get me started.

and the one motherfukker who could've fixed it got run off because he didn't have Cuomo's nuts in his mouth

I get the point of this post

But it's simple, Transit Departments all over the country have lost big. You take away that many daily commuters for damn near 2 years, it's gonna have a huge effect.

For example, Metro down here in DC. Has had to switch to Weekend Schedule, and trim hours.

Man, It's point blank weird to see stations like Metro Center and Gallery Place looking dull and dead at 5pm on a weekday. The feds and firms ain't coming back to them offices in droves like they used to in downtown and southwest, and the ones that do will be on a "show up 2 days a week" schedule. shyt, I used to ride metro heavy but now I mostly drive or hit the rideshares because them 20-30 minute headways ain't worth it.

fukk them!

Prices were too high as it was!

Control the pandemic, and treat your workers better, and MAYBE we talk about commuter rails.

fukk em.

the regular subway was subsidizing that shyt anyway

If the rail system is hurting that much, I’ll put a investor group together right now, buy them out and convert that shyt to high speed rail and charge double (at least) for the convenience of speed, cleanliness and amenities.

And also cause Businesses have lost big in these areas with nothing but office buildings.

Think about all these businesses that relies on folks leaving their houses to go to work. Restaurants off all sizes, dry cleaners, newsstands, small corner stores, food truck folks, them bike messenger folks. And so many more i can't think off.

It was idiotic not to convert some of it to residential ten years ago. Once WeWork came into the game office space brokers shoulda been shook. But instead of all that, they worked on taking them down instead of innovating. Now companies got these multi million dollar steel monstrosities that NO ONE is going to buy.
