I don't see how any of what you said means that Blake should be obligated to take care of Taylor or he owes him something.

For one, it kinda is his fault Blake turned out to be the better player. Athletic differences aside, Blake is clearly one of the hardest working players in the league... that's the main reason for his success more than anything else. And by Blake sacrificing millions to play with Taylor, that would mean Taylor should owe him more than the other way around.

And of course nobody goes broke from one family member, but where does it stop? If he's taking care of his brother, then that means he's taking care of his parents. If he's taking care of his parents, then he's probably taking care of THEIR parents as well. If he's going to take care of Taylor, then he'll end up having to take care of Taylor's wife and Taylor's children... plus his own wife and his own children. But why stop there? Now he's taking care of his wife's family and Taylor's wife's family.

It's a slippery slope when you let somebody leech off of you, even your own blood.

Edit: And I know you probably weren't saying that Blake owed Taylor, but it's the point I wanted to get across anyway.

just to add to that, people need to stop thinking 100 million will last forever. most superstar athletes may get 2 max contracts in their career. first off, they gonna tax that 100 million. then u got agents getting their percentage. add to that child support and monthly bills, that's not easy. why you think a lotta athletes stress near the end of their careers. cause now that income Is getting lower and lower yet people still got their hand out.

You guys saying in the NBA don't realize, he's not actually in the nba anymore. He's in the D league after getting cut from the league (after a short stint) and overseas. He sucks:ld:

Bruh, if i was worth millions of dollars my sister wouldnt have to do shyt!

your first post ever I think that we agree on.. man if I was worth Blake Griffin money no one in my family I cared for would be struggling.. id buy a whole block in Sacramento/Elk Grove for like $2-3 million total (houses in Sacramento are big as fukk and cheap as fukk for whatever reason.. like a 4-5 bedroom house 3-4 bathroom be like $300,000 :wtf: ) and have my whole fam living good..

Blake Griffin is having the best season of his career so far, which is scary cause he was already an all star every year I mean hes moving up in the ranks for super stars, hes one of the most paid from endorsements cause of his safe image.. he's still young as fukk and athletic as hell he'll still cash in on 2 big more career contracts before its all said and done unless he gets injured between that and endorsements I mean besides someone like KG, Shaq, Kobe and Lebron theirs not gonna be too many players in the NBA in history to make more money than Blake Griffin :heh:

KG worth like $300 million or some insane shyt just from contracts and endorsements + longevity, fukk the $100 million people talkin about in here, unless Blake gets injured hes clearing that $200+ million over his career fairly easily.

yeah, it must suck to be the brother of that person, all while you can say you at least made it to the league once yourself :heh:

not everyone can be the .000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% of people good enough to stick around the NBA but hes still better than 99.999999999999999999% people on this earth at the thing he does

man, this dude taylor is playing professional basketball on television. he just so happens to be blake's brother.

put it like this: the majority of professional athletes have siblings. very few of them play professional sports. most of them would love to play in the d-league. taylor griffin, justin holiday, etc should all be proud. wasnt seth curry in the d-league all-star game on saturday? his pops milks his legacy showing up to seth's chit the same way he does when he shows up to steph's.

j.r. smith wins the award for brother of the year.

i'll say this much tho: i'd be lying if i said i wouldnt rather be in robin lopez' position.

JR is a terrible driver (:skip:) and a horrible teammate, but him holding the Knicks hostage so his bum ass brother could get paid a quart mill :to:

Who said anything about "profound"? As if this was some metaphysics discussion about Kant's transcendental idealism or some shyt. Sit your ass down somewhere, breh. Seriously, you're out of your depth. There's plenty of people with more money than Blake Griffin who do nothing for their family. Hell, the richest man in the world is one of them: http://finance.yahoo.com/news/15-tyc00ns-who-won-t-leave-their-fortunes-to-their-kids-195610442.html (According to his granddaughter, everyone in the family works, and he doesn't give them money).

Besides, we're not talking about being taken care of. We're talking about the idea that I'm rich, and subsequently my brother is rich (i.e. immediate family). Moreover, I'm pretty sure we have significantly dissenting views of what it even means to be "taken care of." If I were rich, and if my father hypothetically lived in a fukking shack in Mississippi (the house they showed Rice's parents in was basically a shack), just because I paid the light bill and rent there that wouldn't mean anything to me. Ultimately, he's still living in a damn shack. :stopitslime:

We can talk about agency and autonomy, but it's inconsequential in this matter. All of these people that willingly forgo better circumstances for themselves (when it is a truly viable option), and reject the betterment of their own self-interests on some "just because," shyt are fukking unicorns. I haven't met one such person in my 20 something years of living.

You seemed to have left out the part about Warren Buffett's children each receiving approximately $1 billion worth of stock for their own foundations.

Are Warren Buffett's Kids Really Deprived?

"And it’s hard to argue against Warren’s choices for redistributing the fortune he built through entrepreneurial ingenuity and hard work over time. But it would be a mistake to think that the Buffett children haven’t received any ancestral wealth and power from their pragmatic father. The public often overlooks the $1 billion gift Warren made to each of his three kids for use in charitable foundations."

http://www.vanityfair.com/online/daily/2009/10/when-journalists-write-about-the

And despite Mr. Buffett's penchant for penny pinching & strict money management, don't believe he doesn't share some of his major wealth with his offspring.

"Like their father, who despite his wealth could easily pass for an insurance man (which in the simplest terms he is),
the younger Buffetts stand in stark contrast with so many other children of wealth. They live comfortably, though not lavishly. They get some money from their father. And they appear to be working hard at their foundations and at other pursuits."

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/07/02/business/02buffettkids.html?pagewanted=all

In summary, it's not just about helping or assisting certain family members financially if you're rich or have substantial wealth, it's all in how you go about doing it.

Garnett at one point was the highest paid player in sports. Blake's contracts are capped. He'd be lucky to have 100mil in cash. Those 95mil gets cut in half. So he'd be fortunate to have 2 max contracts in his career. Thats if he can stay healthy. Big if for Blake.

But he also doesnt spend like crazy. Dude has a place in brentwood I think, and dont seem to be a car fiend. So he should be good. His brother looks to live better than anyone on here. Outside of the IT and Wall st cats we have :mjpls:

Absolutely, I meant by nba standards he sucks. I watched him the little time he was in PHX, he's nowhere near his brother. Then again maybe by overseas standards he sucks too because they cut him as well:ld:
