How much did you lose on your 401k from yesterday's market crash?

Advice to all the people with skin in the game.

Keep your money in the market. It's almost impossible to time it.

When it is low, it's on sale - so put MORE money in.

I always tell my family, if the stock market truly crashes to the point where everyone loses their investments... then money is the least valuable thing to have in that moment - you're better off with a gun.

Qquestion for the brothers who are more economically literate than I am...

If there's a projection that we are headed towards a recession and there are more losses and hardships upcoming, is it a good idea to clear out my 401k, and if so, how can I do it? From what I can see I can't get shyt unless I can prove a hardship, which I can't...

I lost $2k this week, and really the shyt has been trickling downwards for a couple weeks now. Should I just ride it out and trust shyt will bounce back? Need some advice!

Don't !! It will eventually go back up. Selling is silly. Markets always bounce back.

nothing. i moved everything to a stable fund since early-mid February. even my future allocations are that and i won't go back to normal again until next week if i feel we've bottomed out (that old man child in the white house might retaliate further in response to other countries not respecting the fact that he gave them a discount).

all i can say is that this shyt was telegraphed, you could see it coming from a mile away. the only reason to have stayed was a belief in trump doing the smart thing.

Natural to be scared but I wouldn't touch anything. March and April 2020 was a blood bath too when covid really hit but stocks had hit a new peak by the end of the year so you would've never known id "lost" anything. And since I kept buying my shyt jumped A LOT.

If you're nowhere near retirement, this is just how its gonna be some years and you can't panic. You will never jump right back in at the true bottom so it's pointless trying.

Then again, the circumstances behind this crash are kinda unprecedented cause they're directly due to stupidity so maybe not 😂.

None. Did you let the bank gamble with your 401k? I mean, "invest" your 401k into other areas for maximum gains? :mjlol:

I told them "NO! :camby::why:"

20 racks yesterday. Probably around the same today.

Glad I sold my holdings in my etrade account. Going to put all that back into an index fund once the market hits bottom.
