Haven't browsed through the entire thread, but I don't think most rappers have the talent or credibility to speak on matters like Brown and Ferguson. The ironic part to me, and this just might be one of those cases where you question whether or not art is imitating life or vice versa...........but there was an all too familiar irony in that a drive-by shooting happened only a couple blocks from where Brown was killed. That's the part where the art imitating life or vice versa aspect of this whole messed up situation came to mind as it relates to rappers speaking out on the subject. How can any rapper that speaks positively about doing dirt, being a goon, selling dope, bangin, and any other item that falls under the umbrella of hood fukkery.....how can any rapper that rhymes on those subjects extensively, and portrays that image to the public, turn around and then rhyme about police being in the wrong in Missouri? Police kill Black men.......rappers rhyme about killing Black men, rappers rhyme about assaulting Black men, rappers rhyme about robbing Black men, rappers rhyme about threatening Black men. Not only do they do this shi! on wax, they do it out of the booth too.

Obviously, I can't generalize and say that applies to all rappers, but in relation to the quesion on how many rappers are going to speak out about the Mike Brown situation........the answer is not many. Not many, because very few can speak on it without being a blazing hypocrite.

"To the sell-outs, livin it up
One way or another you'll be givin it up, huh
I guess cause I'm black born
I'm supposed to say peace, sing songs, and get capped on
But it's time for a new plan, BAM!
I'll be swingin like a one man, clan
Here we go, turn it up, don't stop
To my homies on the block gettin dropped by cops
I'm still around for ya
Keepin my sound underground for ya
And I'ma throw a change up
Quayle, like you never brought my name up
Now my homies in the backstreets, the blackstreets
They fell me when they rollin in they fat jeeps
This ain't just a rap song, a black song
Tellin all my brothers, get they strap on
And look for me in the struggle
Hustlin 'til other brothers bubble -"

Pac's words stay true 20 years later. :blessed:

Hopefully not many, a lot of them just sound stupid when the try to talk about politics and shyt
I agree, then these same people would be clowning these rappers for being smart dumb nikkas if they tried to talk Politics in the media. Most of them aren't knowledgeable about the subject to hold there own in a debate against someone like Bill O Reilly.

Even when Lupe went on there O'Reilly was being disrespectful talking to him like a child.

Its better to get regular Ol black people to who are KNOWLEDGEABLE about politics who can hold there own in a debate against the FOX News types than rappers :sas2:

jakebpeak94Do you actually know the facts? No, no one does. If it was a black cop who killed an "innocent" white kid would you still care?? @mrcrookedi

mrcrookedi@jakebpeak94 I've been treated unfairly by police my whole life bro u barking up the wrong tree.. U want me to sympathize with Darren Wilson when the autopsy shows Mike Brown was shot from a distance and could have survived the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th shot had the officer stopped firing?? Even if he shoplifted some cheap ass cigarillos it would not be worth taking his life. My question for u is, after the rest of the "facts" are revealed and the officer is charged will u open ur eyes to the "fact" that police have killed 2 black ppl a week for the last 7 years via@usatoday reports. Truth doesn't have a COLOR.
