How many people work out not to get in great shape, but just to not get fat?

Thats what i do. Im in pretty decent shape and if i changed my diet id be really killing it but......i have no interest in doing that.

I like cake, so im gonna eat cake. I bought a couple boxes of girl scout cookies this morning im gonna get into tonight while playing Xbox. I go into the gym and bust my ass simply so i can eat whatever the hell i want and not be 250 lbs.

I do a modified version of if it fits your macros/intermittent fasting.

Basically I skip breakfast, dont eat 4 hours before bed, and eat what I want. But I gave up red meat, candy, and trying to kick the energy drinks. Its much easier to workout when you arent counting calories/macros and are eating healthy food you actually like. I also supplement with 2 protein shakes a day.

If I had the appetite I could be swole up, but right now Im solid for my height. I'd like to get swole one day, just cant afford to eat like a powerlifter right now

I do it to get in shape but im not really into the whole bodybuilding dieting culture. I lift weights and eat healthy. Thats pretty much it. Dont care about the latest lifting routine or the latest diet.

High blood pressure, pre-diabetes, bunch of other diseases, run in the family. \

I'd rather reduce the risk contracting these inevitable illnesses as much I can. With that said, my diet is far from perfect, but the overwhelming majority of foods I consume, do tend to be on the healthier side of the spectrum.

For this reason, I'm often hesitant towards gaining too much size, because more than likely it means consuming too much sugar, saturated fats, carbs etc...

I'm trying to live a disability free lifestyle :whew: :umad:

Here's a dope vid on nutrition that's worth watching:

I do it for the health benefits and avoiding certain physical ailments that have affected many of my relatives, but another part of me just wants to test my body and see what it’s really made of. That’s honestly why it’s so hard for me to cheat now, I view food as fuel and to perform at my best I gotta keep the diet in check. I feel like I’d get bored if I was lifting just to “not be fat” lol

Not me - I definitely don't want to be fat, but I'm lanky as fukk!

I refuse to have no muscle.

I just got back to the gym hardcore this week. Time to bulk up!

Real shyt...

I started when I was in middle school and after all these years, I've gotten to a point where I'm just maintaining muscularity and trying to stay lean.

There were times where I would play around with getting stronger, but as I've hit my 30's, I've kind of been like..."Why am I trying to rep this much anymore? My damn shoulder hurts". There was a while where I found it hard to find motivation.

I've rarely gone to the doctor for a real physical over the years, but I've gone a couple times since I've moved out west in and everything's been exceptionally good: that’s become the motivation.

I just want to stay fairly lean so I have cushion to clown on my diet and I'm too lazy to cook all the time, so eating the same thing is easy. I want to keep enough strength to do errands/chores without help and enough to avoid injuries/illness.

I also have a little kid now, so I want to still be in good enough shape to run up on him if he ever decides to try it.
