What part of India is your fam originally from?

I hear guyanese and trini hindus telling me that their communities don't place value on caste and all that, I don't even think they bother to trace their lineages. Is it different for Fijian hindus?

All Brahmins have a Gotra, do you know what yours is?

My mom's side of the family is from Maharashtra. As for the caste stuff, it wasn't very noticeable when I went there, though I should ask around. Certainly they dont look down on my father or his family for being a Kshatriya, so I'm not sure.

I'll have to ask my grandmother about the gotra, though she's pretty liberal and doesn't give a shyt about that sort of thing.

Word, this kind of thing interests me. I went to a guyanese hindu function at one of their mandirs years back and the whole thing seemed bootleg to me. I don't mean that in a bad way, I'm just used to that authentic shyt ....priest was rocking a t-shirt

Nobody accepted Islam peacefully...Just like Nobody accepted Christianity peacefully...

Those two religions have a long, wide and deep trail of blood behind them...

My point was, names like John, Matthew, Daniel. David and etc are NOT WHITE names...For all we know, they could be black names...

White names are Ryan, Kieran, William, Malcolm, Martin, Dennis and etc

The fact is, there is probably a brutal story behind any name you want to pick, because human history, present and future will ALWAYS be brutal...
