How mainstream do you see the Atheist movement becoming in the next 20-25 years?

Do you think religion will still be a dominating force, at least in the US, in people's lives/politics/ decision making process etc? Or do you think science and rationality plus the spreading of alternative ideas via the Internet will change that?

I agree, it's really gaining momentum especially in the 18-25 demographic but how long until we have politicians/candidates taking notice n stop pandering to religious fanatics.

I don't really foresee any sort of huge atheist movement, but religion will just get less and less relevant. There are studies showing that Millennials (people 18-30) are less religious than older generations, but they usually identify as "unaffiliated" rather than atheist.

So I doubt there will be a huge atheist movement, but as time goes on fewer and fewer people will bother with going to church or making their kids go. That's what the demographics seem to indicate at least. :manny:

Well, maybe if the 18-25 demographic decided to vote.

There's a reason why, politicians cater to these nuts(bible belt). There's a reason why the politicians care about the senior citizen vote. Hmm, could be because they vote :snoop:. Wake up people, even if you don't think your vote, doesn't count or matter it, it really does. :troll:

Funny thing is, now that I think about it, a lot people did struggle in Political Science 101, even though it has to be one of the easiest courses in college to pass. :dwillhuh:

Really u think so? I still feel like there's a huge stigma associated with being a non-believer. I'm always cautious about who I reveal my true beliefs to. I guess that's the problem, atheists/agnostics r apathetic ppl because they're not insane like their religious counterparts and would rather keep their personal beliefs to themselves rather than impose them on other people/offend them. Which is the way it should b imho.
