I still like this show but when I think about these character arcs, they were very underutilized. Marshall and Lily had almost no development or growth.
Lily was a teacher, then a failed artist and then got a bangin new job as an art consultant because she was made to confess to stealing from the Captain. That's some BS. Remember when she almost cost Ted his job because she stole the baseball from Heisenberg? Her biggest move was having the baby. Almost forgot about Lily being an undercover lesbian & nymphomaniac.
Marshall was a lawyer, worked at GNB for a little while then went into environmental law. Son had one case and then applied to be a judge. Is that even a possible course of events? Jeez.
Barney is a womanizer that ends up with this friends ex? What part of the game is that? Sure, his mom dukes was a freak but he's been doing nothing for hella. They drove the playbook theme (which I liked a lot) into the ground something terrible.
Robyn's whole arc became nothing worthy to mention. I cannot even thing of anything major that she did. A Canadian girl who moved to the big city to make it big as a reporter. Didn't like Ted but still gave into him. Moved to Japan and smashed Enrique Iglesias then lands in Barney's arms? That's nasty.
Ted, who is the crux of this show, is here telling the story of how he found and snagged mom dukes. Dude spent the whole first season chasing Robin which was wild to see and painful the second time that I watched. Then every other relationship was sabotaged in very silly ways just to keep the endgame intact. The whole Victoria arc was basura. The last one with Jeanette was terrible.
