How hated would Muhammad Ali be if he fought in today's landscape?

Yep but this is the weakest era of heavyweights.

He fought in the GOAT era of heavyweights

I didnt take that into consideration with my OP. Personally, I think that a personality as unique and strong as Ali's wouldnt have really differed from then if he was in today's climate instead (maybe a slight shift but nothing significantly different)..but thats obviously an indefeasible argument and completely hypothetical on my part.

Where's that Klitschko stan at? :mjpls:

Ali would be that dude, if he was active in this era.

- Always fought the best comp ( We would have gotten to see Ali fight both Klits, Bryd, Jennings, Wilder, Ruiz, Tua, Haye, Adamek, Peter, Valuev, Wilder, etc....)

- Always gave a good effort (some of his fights were ugly due to style match ups, but he'd let his hands go and try to put on a show)

- Entertaining interviews

- He actually stood up for black issues.

- Had a personality and wasn't afraid to call people out

How often does a boxer come along and do ALL OF THE ABOVE criteria. That shyt is rare as fukk.

Not disputing any of this.

But denouncing the current war(s) which are essentially against Islamic Radicalism..while converting to Islam? The hate/criticism for that would be immeasurable imo although it'd be interesting to see the social impact it would have in terms of the general perception of Muslims in regards to how he would stand up and speak/defend the religion in the face of it being generalized.

I feel you. Honestly that's prolly the only possibility where he'd prolly catch some flack with, but I think his star would still shine bright.

ali was a product of that era..no diss to OP and other opinions but i hate the fantasy match ups and recasting a boxer in a another era especially with character/influence.

None taken. I agree that its hard to translate comparatively from generation to generation...he was a somewhat a product of his era..as is everyone..and while its impossible to say he'd be 'the same' if he grew up to be in his prime now..most of the premise was just based on the public perception if he did turn out to be essentially the same with equivalent actions taken [as a given] for conversational purposes..not really an in-depth psychoanalytical/sociological prediction of how he would be different or not as a person..(although I did note that given his unique and strong personality traits that I thought he'd still be outspoken and a leader of some sort, if it did come to a prediction).

no military draft today, that was a huge catalyst for cac hate. mike tyson converted to islam and there was no increased hate.

with ali being a heavyweight who took more risks than he needed to, he would be liked more than mayweather. ali also does far better interviews and says more interesting things than floyd.

one thing i wonder is would ali ever take a loss in today's climate...

ali could hold his own in conversations and drop knowledge....if it wasn't for the parkinsons he could have easily made money as a speaker like he did during his exile or something more higher profile...floyd on the other hand :francis:

but hey not every fighter blessed with that type of gift of gab..it is what it is:yeshrug:

White america hates any black person that they consider loud, boisterous or too flashy. I doubt they would make an exception for Ali.

Pretty much you see how they turned on my boy/GOAT RJJ once he started making everybody looking like nobody, had that Roycott etc. Then once he lost people trying to discredit everything the man did before that. Like it didn't mean nothing. Roy's persona as a boxer is totally different how he really is. I mean he was cocky but not as bad as some people. He's pretty down to earth to his fans and to most people.

The way his stans fell off the bandwagon was nothing short of disgraceful...i wasn't a roy fan like that or a stan but as always said I'd be lying if I didn't think he was the most gifted fighter if the last 25-30 years
