How does Higher Learning feel about 'Accidental Racist'?

I'm talking about the part of their heritage that includes the confederate flag and being a rebel. That's the heritage discussed in the song. That heritage is tainted, rightfully so, and you don't get to ignore or re-write the reason why.

Ah, if you talk specifically about the heritage linked to the confederate flag, I won't argue since I don't know that story enough. Just could not agree with the generalization you wrote before, "Cacs (sic) can't be proud of their heritage". Don't see any good reason why White people around the world should not be proud of their cultural heritage for example, just like other people are.

Yeah, I've no issue with someone who's just proud of being from the South. But if their pride is based around the Confederate flag, then it makes me question if their pride is just based on the more unsavory aspects of Southern history.

I get the point of the song, pointing out how not all of them are racist, I just can't figure out the motivation behind this c00ning from LL though..

I knew a n1gga when I was in the military that repped the conf. flag hard. On his truck, on the wall in his room. He acted normal and not like a c00n, but fck that. That really is some c00nsh1t in my opinion. What's worst is that he had the crown for hitting the baddest and most black chicks around base. I just didn't get it, because the C Flag should automatically turn an African American off.

Can a White Southerner be proud of being from the South (just like some Black Americans -if I go by what some rappers say- are proud of being from the South...or just like people all over the world happen to be proud from where they're from) or is it also suspect to you?

I feel it's racist. Everything it stood for was terrible, everything it stands for today is even worse. Today it's not much of a surprise to see the Nazi Flag and Confederate Flag flown together, they've been co-opted by white nationalist movements. Furthermore the Federal Government had to fight with states within the last decade to replace their state flags(confederate flags). A white southerner can be proud of coming from the south, I don't think there's anything wrong with that. If they stand in solidarity with slavery and their racist past that's an issue I can't ignore. I don't really come in contact with these people because I live in the north, and don't vacation around white trash, but they're out there. Either way I'll still look down on them. If a black man is proud of being from the south he's a fool, if you are a black man and live in the south you are c00n. Everything surrounding the south is highly suspect.
