I have a standard setting on my Kick/Snare/Hi-Hat/Percussion that doesn't really color the sound too much but does give it a bit more bump. If you pick good drumsounds you don't need to do a lot to them.
yo whats the best way to eq through headphones or monitors?
What headphones do you recommend?Both. It should sound good on both.

@DrHackenbush
U said the 50s are better....40s no good for mixing?
Sennheisers are great, if you spend around 100 you'll get great value for money. I have the 40s and the bass isn't great on them, definitely spend the extra and get the 50s

I save presets of eq's for future use. Like if a I EQ a kick or a piano a way that I like for a track I just save that track as preset and boom you got a eq that you can easily use on any beat you want.
Are there producers out there who don't even mix/master their beats? That's what engineers are for, I'm assuming?
Eq is a broad term. It takes a longggggg time, song dependence, and personal tricks/preferences to "eq".
Notching, sidechaining, bells, panning. Start just learning.
TruthI think most MPC-Users back in the day never used to mix they beats. But that wasn't necessary if you had good sounds.
And it was usually only a sample + bass + drums which doesn't even need to be mixed a lot of times.
