HOW do you convince yourself it’s okay to just walk by homeless people? What excuses do you use?

This doesn't make sense.... if a homeless person wanted to work, he wouldn't be on the street begging

You need an address to get a job or qualify for govt. assistance, something a homeless person doesn't have (obviously)

In in Philly, downtown there's one on every corner..and on the trains and subways a few will walk through the train carts...

its never ok though, to act as if they dont even exist...if i have a few dollars or change, i'll usually give it up..specifically to someone black but i dont discriminate

When I do decide to help, I like to go to shelters/donate money to shelters. Just in case they’re possibly crackheads, I know the money and time I spend won’t be wasted and will be filtered through the right lines

This one homeless/addict cac sees my whip all the time and says the same shyt “is that a 5.0 brother” ? And goes on to the “Im just a vet.....”

He’s done this atleast 3x in 2 years. nikka recognized my whip and started again recently but saw me and zipped that bs up and kept it moving

This year (and really the middle of last year) I said I’d try to help every homeless person I came across

And I have

I got 1 a job at a Trader Joe’s after helping him get his social security card and ID,

A couple of others jobs at mcdonalds

And the rest into shelters around the city

All it takes is 30 dollars to really help a homeless person

The first thing you ask them, is do they have any felonies, if they say no, then your job going forward is easy. Offer them coffee or a quick fast food bite

Take down their information and help them find a job.

How can you just walk by without helping? Why is that okay? What do you tell yourself to make yourself feel better about it?

I walk by cac bums by saying "you white and this yo world, you should be ashamed of yourself"

I give money or food to black bums. Gave this nikka a crisp $100 and told him to get his ass off the street and I don't want to see him out here tonight begging

at one point, i'd frequently give money to the homeless. but honestly, i kept seeing the same people out there. after a while i realized outside of asking for money, they weren't prepared to CHANGE their situation. especially in NOLA, some people just stand out on the corner in high traffic, tourist areas because they KNOW tourist will see them and hand them something. it's like busking but they're playing on your emotions. but now, they just say "what's up" when they see me because they know i know i given them plenty of cash in the past.

if it's a different city or place though, i revert back to old me...

The middle class pays the most taxes. Wanting the 1% to pay its fair share is not comparable to charity like giving to the homeless.

Most homeless people y’all see are people with deep rooted issues and have burned every bridge they had and people are tired of their shyt.

I’ve got too many stories, one of my own brothers, uncles, ex’s fathers and brothers etc etc...

I do see homeless people who clearly need psychological help, i’d definitely like to see cities get those people help.

I swing (BLACK) homeless people and panhandlers a couple dollars or the change in my pocket. I don't care if they go buy liquor or some shyt. If my reality was homelessness, I'd be trying to escape that shyt every day.

This. I'm surprised more don't share the same perspective. Viewing the homeless from the perspective of being employed and having your basic needs met, I guess the initial thought would be to see a homeless person and think they should be doing more. Seems to me, after dealing with it for a while, the person crosses a threshold and maybe just settles on numbing themselves each day to deal with the reality of their situation.

Young women of any race don’t get nothing from me. Not misogynistic but if nikkas are giving millions to women to just play video games on YouTube you can at least hustle up a couple of hundred.

Nah but foreal I give CHANGE when I got it in my car, usually don't carry cash anyway
