Style is a very personal thing. While I can't rock with all of it, it's still way preferable to sagging jeans, and oversized tees.

Hipster fashion is so sloppy and erratic that people, including hipsters, often wrongly group other fashions with hipster fashion. Thus people dressed Mod, Preppy, Punk, Grunge, and BCBG falsely get identified as hipster. I don't even understand why hipster fashion is called "hipster".

Numbers 4,5,6,7 and 11 are not hipsters. Five and Seven are preppy. Four, Six, and Eleven are mod.

I don't like hipster fashion and it's overall identity crisis look. Anytime someone points out to me a "well dressed hipster" it's either some preppy guy, or some punk girl who would be attractive no matter what she wore. Everything about the hipster wardrobe seems random to me. Number three does have some nice boots though.

I have never, and will never like skinny jeans. Not once in my life have I seen an instance where skinny jeans looked better on a man than a relaxed fit. Not once ever.

yeah, alot of modern Hipster style is just rehashed Black Jazz musicians/Harlem Ren era dress

I look at classic early 1900s black fashion and think "Anyone who thinks we (blacks) haven't already done this is a moron to the highest degree."
I back anyone who rocks what they like 100%. Hipster shyt is repurposed Jazz club swag.

I agree with your point but that picture is modern retro. I have no real prob with this style but I would never rock skinny jeans:scust::huhldup:

1. You're 100% right, my dad always said "what goes around, comes around" alot of stuff we wear that is stylish , was in 20 -30 years ago.

2. Blacks been dressing, speciallly in the larger cities

3. It's dubbed "hipster" but it really isn't. And I do it myself as well...i usually hang out in hipster spots. Those black girls are hard to pull tho lol

4. For some reason, I don't think that pic is from early 1900's - it almost looks newer, something about the women dresses and shoes look newer.

5. black people also wore those over sized zoot suits, which is synonymous with the oversized tee lol

1920s zoot suits are the origin of the trend of baggy clothes

hipster term is now pretty much "popular"

hipsters are usually well-classed people who are appropriating other "cultures/styles", which is why it's now being used interchangeably with other fashion/cultural groups. In the 80's these were yuppies and now they've assimiliated/stolen other cultures are now hipsters.

People called my dress hipster back in the day.

Now I'm multifaceted. Incorporating bits and pieces of workwear, dresswear, skate fashion, sportsgear, outdoor gear, surf, hip-hop fashion, hipster and more into my wardrobe. I have beyond a wardrobe now...it's a meticulously curated selection of greatness.

Why not do both?

Wear dress suits and sports casual on weekdays and weekends?

some people just don't know how to balance the wardrobe for the occasion and have a consistent style that compliments their own style,

Why should you dress different on weekends compared to weekdays? Infact on weekends you are probably out more and crossing more people and thus need to be more representable of yourself. There are adult black men who simply don't know how different you are threated as a black man simply when you dress like an ''representable adult''.
