This post is almost
alarmingly stupid, and you so strong with it too. Most of modern science is based on the work of enlightenment era christian monks and muslim scholars.
Perhaps you have difficulty reading simple English, so like Conceited, let me slow it down for you.
Here's what I said:
...he asks, from a cell phone/computer/tablet that was created because of principles derived from scientists, who are overwhelmingly irreligious.
Since you're completely ignorant of what words mean, "overwhelmingly irreligious" means that
some of them ARE religious.
Heck, Isaac Newton was a creationist. Him being a believer does not discount him from being able to do science. However, the point was that the majority of scientists are atheist/irreligious. This is a documented fact.
The reason that is important is because the moron I was responding to and you're currently caping for asked
when in history have atheists done anything.
Obviously, being that the majority of scientists are atheists, it's a stupid question.
Now the problem with what you've posted is easy enough to decipher-- you posted a link of religious people that have contributed to science. Congratulations: you've shown you can Google things.
I remind you the question was
WHEN HAVE ATHEISTS CONTRIBUTED TO HUMANITY. Being that is the question:
en.wikipedia.org
Since you like Wikipedia, and all.
In *my* link, you will find atheists that have
- laid the foundation for modern optics
- created modern heterostructure physics, which led to solar cells, as one example
- worked on the Manhattan Project, specifically the nuclear chemistry
- coined the term "genetics"
- disproved the concept of vitalism, which has saved COUNTLESS lives, through the discovery that bacteria were alive and can only come from living beings
- discovered DNA
- created memes/memetics
- founded quantum mechanics
- refined algebra/ created the Dynkin diagram, system and lemma
- constructed human gene maps for color blindness and hemophilia
- discovered the bacteria that causes leprosy
The list goes on and on.
So you see, the point wasn't that ONLY the atheist does science, which is the strawman you're attempting to erect here. The point was that the people literally responsible for current, modern civilization happen to be atheist, and contribute to society in meaningful and critical ways.
No one discounts the contribution of the religious to science. But their contribution to modern scientific discovery pales in comparison to that of the atheist, and that is because modern science is incompatible with the teachings in religious texts. You will find ZERO whale researchers that call that animal a fish, in the way the bible does, for example. You'll find ZERO credible geologists that believe in a worldwide flood. You will find ZERO microbiologists that believe sickness is due to evil spirits.
