With his daughter in law now Chairman of the party, his take over is complete, but how did he do it? A lot of these Republican politicians like Cruz and Graham who used to disparage him and who Trump has publicly insulted have now fully bent the knee. People will say because he’s racist but he’s not the first republican presidential candidate to use racist terms. Plenty have done it and they did not dominate the party completely like Trump has done. So what’s his secret? :patrice:

I am not a fan of the racist bigot whatsoever but it is simply astounding to capture a major american party like that as an outsider its an objectively impressive feat , to have your party paying off your legal bills, your family running the party, basically a despot run entity is insane. This is the same party of eisenhower, reagan and bush.

Yeah.

On one hand, white resentment has always been a very powerful force in American politics, and Trump is more explicit about going after the white grievance vote than other Republicans in recent history. But even so, the hold Trump has on white America is like nothing I've seen in my lifetime.

he is a pro wrestling character with a rich man gimmick come to life in american politics and happens to be the only charismatic celebrity they've had in the last 40 years

so he galvanized the base saying the same shyt all republicans have been pushing for years, just with a more bombastic approach and less political correctness than a mitt romney or a george bush.

he now has a huge base of MAGAT cultist followers that will do whatever he tells them to and donate a lot of money when he tells them to. if he tells them to tell establishment republicans to fukk off, they will. due to that ability to mobilize that many people, he now has control of the larger party apparatus, they all are one trump tweet/speech/rant whatever away from being persona non grata. so the more "establishment" republicans have to bend the knee.

Voters are behind Trump. Donors got behind him to ride his popularity to easily push whatever agendas and policies they want.
Other elected officials don't want the backlash from those voters so they publicly defer to Trump.

Trump is the opposite side of the Jay Z line about "we don't believe you, you need more people"

Fact that people are still behind him after he publicly supported a coup attempt means that any Republican standing up to him will get targeted by his followers to be removed from office, or threatened with violence,

He plays to the inner racist, narcissist, hateful, anti-intellectual, pettiness in white America's belly. It's always been a part of their identity and they don't have to hide anymore.

It's a cult-like thing, like how cult leaders play on members insecurities and fears to create emotional ties that defy all logic and reason. Scary shyt really

I guess it’s in the name MAGA

Those 8 years of having a Black Man as President really got to them

The democrats let a Black Man run & become President that’s all it took

Trump put a battery in the back of all the whites that felt oppressed under Obama mix in some America First along with some slick racism that’s all the Republicans needed
