evolution just so happened that it worked out that humans are able to be the most emotional animals on earth
that's what I don't like about that movie (I never read the book). it perpetuates this idea that outside sources were responsible for the important steps of our evolution. obviously it's science fiction, and possibly just symbolism, but I'm not fond of popularizing that concept

lol, I know. I just feel these things give people something to latch onto when they're busy denying science. I've been on these forums long enough to see things like "it's just like in the Matrix" thrown around way too much
2001 is one of my favorite movies. but if I have to pick something I don't like about it, that would be it. honestly a lot of that has to do with how I perceive people's current attitudes about science right now. I guess ultimately my issue isn't with these stories, just with the stupid people who don't understand that it's fiction. look at this thread. someone could see your post and think you're half-way serious about it. but that's just Poe's Law I guess...
