The most imitated and copied race on the planet.

For a group of people who have been oppressed for hundreds of years and only been "free" for less than 200.

How did we go from Slaves, then to being oppressed, to everyone copying us, wanting to be like us, talk like us, dress like us, make music like us, try to wear their hair like us etc..

Is HIP HOP is sole reason why black americans are the "cool" race?

But then again, even back in the Mo Town days nikkas was starting to jacc our swag :patrice:

Pretty insulting that you call out Hip-Hop......

When Jazz, Rock-n-Roll, Blues and Rag-time, Funk , Soul, Techno, House, Electro, Freestyle and R&B have and huge impacts on Europe and Asia.

Black people are superior musicians, and always have been. It's sad that this tradition has been lost.

We are the only group of black people that went through legit survival of the fittest. Most of our weak traits have been eliminated due to slavery.. curse was a gift in some ways

It could be argued that our weakest trait WAS survival :sas1:
nikkas ain't out here c00ning, bed wenching/bed bucking, etc by accident :sas2:

Too bad you nikkas worried about "cool points" instead of capitalizing off all that shyt

This. I'm tired of other races making money off of us, we work hard at EVERYTHING, and all these industries are owned by non blacks. We should be running more of our own shyt.

And it's not just major industries, because even on a 'local' scale, in our own communities, it's still mostly non blacks running businesses. The fact that a lot of guys get offended at the mere mention of this, says a lot.

Brehs love the whole "swag" culture, love kicks, clothes, jewelry, etc but most of these stores selling us these things we "pride" ourselves on are owned by non-blacks. We need to strive for more ownership. We brag a lot about the material items we buy but can't even brag about what we OWN, because we don't own very much in America.

Black Americans barely own or control anything, in last place economically, but "at least we stay fresh" :francis:

How havent we capitalized again?

Like the thread says, we've been jocked since the earliest we can imagine...

For an oppressed people, we've fought specifically rights other cultures leisurely enjoy (even thiugh not alone, but we took the brunt of it)

Sold into slavery by out old country and mistreated more than anyone

And despite things aren't perfect for us, they aren't as bad at all. We can do more and be more... And we are more. Despite what you see on TV, my family is full of Dr.s, IT professionals, government officials, teachers, professors, Nurses, etc.. My grandad was a govenor and a Dean. My other Grandfather could've been in the NFL if never drafted into Army. We had a wall at our GP house full of certificates, football and gymnastic trophies, dance trophies, etc. i was military for 8 years and seen some crazy shyt,

And thats just us and who we know. We not all drug dealers, in jail, college drops, junkies, etc. in fact, I don't know many of us who ever done serious time aside from my cousin who came from a good fam but wanted to be a player and a street hustler... Which was cool too until he caught up.

Point is, we've done more than create hip hop and Beyonce... But Beyonce is a bw thats the most famous chick in the World. Oprah is a bw who is the richest woman in the world.

Should I continue?

Yes and Greece is praised for it, these things are great accomplishments the dates mean nothing since YOU STILL USE THEM. Literally 2,000 years old and present day they are idealised, and yet you're trying to compare that with...hiphop. I'm sorry but no. Make it stop, it's painful to watch. Creolized? So hiphop isn't black, it's creolized it has a mixture from various races? Then the title should be changed.

You ask what the point of the post was, and it was in response to being the most mimicked race on the planet, my boss isn't walking around in hiphop gear, nor speaking slang but he is walking around in a suit and speaking his native tongue. Most of the world is. Any questions?

You're trying to use hiphop as straw man but its not gonna work out in your favor

Aside from being one of the most influential cultures in the world that generated BILLIONS of dollars in direct sales, there's an argument that can be made for it's responsibility, at the very least in creating the tools responsible, for modern day Cut & Paste culture. Hip hop music is the most shining, and most realized example of Cut & Paste culture presented as an art form. Taking a sitar sample from here, some drums from a white rock group here, and some synthesizers from a german new wave group and somehow blending that into a beautiful mix is POWERFUL.
Add a nikka like Rakim on top of that spitting pro black lyrics with a dash of mysticism, metaphors, and a smooth, effortless flow and you got something damn near Nuclear.

The limitations of digital sampling equipment in the 80's forced black kids to find a way to push the equipment beyond it's limitations to get the most out of the machines. The adjustments to these limitations created some of the most powerful black music ever made. The companies responded in various ways as well, first by adding more sample time and increased sample quality. Later, as technology advanced and memory became more affordable, they started adding things like waveform editing so you can visually see what you were recording. Programs like Recycle! and Acid come to mind specifically for loops but companies like Digidesign, later renamed to it's parent company Avid, took this to it's height.

Avid ProTools is the most popular digital multimedia recording program on the market. Just about everything you see and hear is being ran thru that program. The beauty of that program, and EVERY OTHER DAW ON THE MARKET, is the ability to do what? Cut and paste things from one track to another. You know.. that shyt those black kids in the projects were doing :obama:

The whole approach to the way we present digital media GLOBALLY is directly influenced by African Americans, creating African American music known as RAP, spawned from the African American culture of Hip Hop.
