I was in college and Dave Chappelle and Dane Cook were arguably the hottest comedians at the time.

Dave Chappelle had his show on Comedy Central from 2003 - 2004 and was popular all throughout the 2000s. But he was huge/superstar status in 2004/2005.
Dane Cook was popular between 2003 - 2006.

I was in my twenties at the time so I remember it clearly.

By 2007 no one was talking about Dane Cook like that. And this was after he was in movies with Anna Ferris and Jessica Alba for crying out loud
Facts.

I was a preteen and a huge fan of Comedy Central.

Dane Cook's Comedy Central Presents special came out in 2000 and by the time Chappelle came around Comedy Central Dane Cook was already on fire.

Dudes just be making up shyt....Chappelle show was at its height during 2003-2005....Dane Cook ain't really pop off until 2006 and had a run till like 2009....he wasn't even there telling it like he was:mjlol:.

Dane Cook is a horrible comedian, but facts is facts.
This had to be post sabbatical (06) or 07 when this happened

Dane was okay in my book. I remember seeing one of his specials were he sold out MSG. Dude was huge.

I remember Patrice ONeal talking about this on Opie and Andy. He said Family Guy killed Dane Cook by pointing out his routine or shtick. He said that I believe in 2010.

Honestly Patrice ONeal has some great conversation material on YouTube when he was on O&A. Check it out.
Was this the Jesus returns episode of Family Guy?

Also this still doesn't beat when Hoe Rogan went up on stage and called Carlos Mencia on his bs

I didn't think he was that bad, really. I've seen comedians that don't even make me smile. Dane seemed like he was trying. Yeah, he was animated, loud and hit or miss at times but I didn't mind him.

Plus none of his stuff ever made me cringe or angry. I've seen stand up bits from other people that have had me like :hmm: or . If I'm not laughing at your jokes I at least want to be smiling.

I'll say this. Dane Cook paid his dues, found a lane, and made it big time even though it wasn't sustainable over the course of time. There's hundreds of comedians here in LA and across the country that have been at it for thirteen years or more and have yet to make one single dent in the comedic field and their careers. Cook did world tours, stand up specials, and crossed over into movies. I wasn't really a fan of his but I'm not going to trash the guy. That sh*t is not easy at all for someone doing stand up

The ‘Dane cook wasn’t funny’ thing bothers me. There’s no gatekeeping in comedy. I feel that way regardless of who does it. You can’t sell out stadiums and be the hottest thing—-even for a short amount to time—-not be funny. He’s funny to somebody. And that’s perfectly fine.

Nggas be acting like Dane cook took food off somebody plate
