How come skin bleaching never became big in black America like it did in Africa & the Caribbean?

What yall have to understand is that folks like @Robbie3000 dont REALLY care for Africa as a whole. Its more important for them to put on a fake façade that it isnt a problem then to rather address it.

It would take at least an hour to read those articles but he is going to respond to this exact post minutes from now because just doesn’t have the intellectual curiosity or genuine caring for Africa to take a deep dive and see the truth.

Africa is not important enough for them and people like him to seek the truth

Obviously im not speaking about Africa as a whole. But whenever I see bleaching, the influence of black american culture is obvious. Same weaves, same clothing, adopted mannerisms. This is just what my senses picked up. The senses act as data collection for the brain if you didnt know:respect:
The dude is sitting here telling that it has nothing or little to do with fba culture, yet here you still are blaming it on us. Do people have zero agency in this. How do you jump from weaves, to one bleaching their whole skin. Especially if that particular part isn’t relevant in fba pop culture :dahell:

You dodo bird pannies are the worst

I swear. This guy and his theories is more valid and equal to my lived in experience of being an African who has lived on both sides of the pond.

I hate social media

The article you posted said bleaching is common in Nigeria. How does that equate to Africa as a continent with 52 countries?

Just say it’s big where you come from..

Skin bleaching is huge in Asia and Africa. Don’t line itemize shyt away as if it’s not a problem. you have governments from west to the southern tip of Africa trying to tackle the problem and here you are saying it’s not an African problem.

You are garbage poster. You don’t read to learn… You read to deflect.

You dont care about “Africa.” You care about keeping up appearances, pretending there isnt a problem there.

“While the size of Africa’s skin whitening market is not known, a whopping $40% of all African women bleach their skin. “In some countries the figure is higher: a staggering 77% of women in Nigeria, 59% in Togo, 35% in South Africa, 27% in Senegal and 25% in Mali use skin-lightening products,”

You’re throwing temper tantrums because I poked holes in your blanket claims.

Nigeria is the largest economy in Africa. It being a problem in Nigeria and South Africa is a result of it.

Are you in denial that the governments of Cameroon, South Africa, and Ivory Coast aren’t addressing the problem? Just say you don’t care for Africa… You care for Kenya

People like @Robbie3000 Don’t care for “Africa.” Anti-Blackness doesn’t matter to them until it impacts someone from their fellow nation.

Look at how he runs away from it being called an African problem to saying it’s a “your country in Africa problem.” :mjpls:

Africans don’t care about other Africans unless it’s their fellow countrymen or tribe.

Exactly.

A lot of Black people c00n globally because of racial stockholm syndrome. And overseas they bleach. But in the US they have kids with cacs to destroy their racial heritage permanently.
I never thought about it like this until someone else posted it last night but you are absolutely right.

It’s one thing to do it cosmetically and a whole nother thing to do it genetically.

I don't care for blanket statements about a continent of 1 billion people. Especially when it' s a disingenuous troll thread that you fell for like a crash dummy.

It’s an Asian and African problem. You have numerous governments in Africa attempting to tackle it. Now your response is that “it’s not Africa…is just isolated to certain countries in Africa “

You don’t give a fukk about Africa. You care about Kenya

Subject has come up before.

I pointed out that archives of advertisements in Black owned newspapers and magazines from pre 1960s era says different.

Because Black Americans always had a massive push to love yourself and how you look.

There’s an accompanying 4 part ‘documentary’ that accompanies Godfather of Harlem. One of the episodes highlights the intentional push behind the Black is Beautiful movement.

I feel that movements like these and the NoI had a huge part in raising the collective self esteem of Black Americans, and (maybe not as big a part but still) thus other Black people around the world as well.
