Hip-hop culture took over as the main influence of black men, more specifically young black men.

Ain't shyt "mature", "sophisticated", "classy" and "debonair" about hip-hop culture which is why you see these dudes getting all these face tats trying to look like their favorite rapper

Where It’s Not Safe
That was relative new fashion for its time. The modern suit was invented in the late 1800's and Jeans were invented shortly after. Both styles evolved.

High quality jeans became less expensive over time were widely adopted and were durable, high quality suits require hand stitching and are expensive, in america its kinda rare these days . Comfort is a big factor too.

Also I think the hip hop fashion was a way to push back against the system and distinguish from the mainstream. Esp baggy clothes.

I’ve noticed a lot old hip hop brands were all black owned : Sean John, Rocawear, etc

Now it’s all about European designers so it’s more mixed now
