The spirit of rebellion that swept the nation during the 60s left many feeling liberated from the suffocating expectation to conform to what were increasingly viewed as outdated norms which reflected a past that a significant number of people in our society sought to sever ties with. Civil Rights, feminism, opposition to the war, the AIDS crisis and its convergence with a franker discussion of gays in our society, and orher countercultural developments encouraged a more liberal concept of fashion.

The term "dressing up" is speaking in contrast regarding normal dress in your current daily life...

Era's change...

It's like asking, "why don't we play 8-bit Nintendos everyday like we used to 30+ years ago.

We have options, choices, and we evolve. Nothing is right or wrong, just different versions of our simulation.

Laziness. Who really wants to press shirts, take suits to the dry cleaners and polish their shoes?

Also hip hop culture has taken over and made it cool to wear clothes that don't fit and are faddish.

But for those of us who do dress, the fact that no one does it anymore, makes us stand out and look even better.

When I'm out in my suit and tie, and polished oxford shoes, the response from people is crazy. I have people walking up to me just to tell me hi, and others asking me if I'm hiring people... :wow: But even when I'm dressed down in shorts, and still looking sharp, people respond positively. That just shows how sloppy the average American man dresses today.
