How come all the chicks in Sailor Moon were white?

I remember seeing a japanese blog post where they explained that Japanese have pale skin and wider eyes than other races...but then I look at Gantz and the American squad is straight up superior to every other nation

So why animate them white?

There are very few animes that don't use white characters. Even characters that can pass for ethnic have a lot of white features so you can't really tell.

i don't think you've ever really noticed how pale japanese people are.

pale skin and big eyes aren't traits exclusive to white people.

anime characters are pretty much a collection of the japanese ideal human image. the good guys have big eyes. a lot of the guys tend to have more feminine traits. both the guys and the girls have impossible body proportions. in the end, they barely look human.

no race on earth is walking around looking like anime characters.

because they're not drawn to really have a race. they're just anime humans living in an anime world. where there is a white anime character, they usually have a white name, the country where they're from is usually stated, they might dress a little different.. but they look similar.

but since everything else about them is japanese.. of course they're japanese people. they live in japan, they speak japanese, they have japanese names, etc.

it's kind of like how the simpsons are a white family. even though they're yellow, marge has a blue high top afro and the kids' hair is made from their own skin.

if this is true then tell me where all the blonde hair blue eyed japs are at?

Just admit it. They worship cacs and project their qualities to their children as somehow better than what they really are.

blond hair and blue eyes are found attractive by a lot of people. right next to the blond hair blue eyed character is a purple haired, pink eyed character.. is that character white too?

But how the fukk we debatin' that Goku DON'T look "Asian" in his normal state, when his whole mythology was based on a character named Sun Wukong from a chinese mythology called "Journey to the West".

Krillin, Tien, Yamcha, Goku, Gohan, Chi Chi, Ox King, Master Roshi and the Saiyans (not transformed, of course)? Yeah, I can buy that.

Trunks? Bulma and that whole family? Nah, breh. Them cacs.

EDIT: All of this is kind of a moot point in the first place when you consider that our rules regarding race and ethnicity don't really apply to a fukking fictional world.

I just don't get how they can tell us that these characters are Japanese and then not have any distinction between supposedly Asian characters and white characters.

One of these characters is American.

I've noticed that they have no problem drawing villains or Chinese people with more Asian features though.

Taking all that into account, and the fact that I understand the logic in play here...you can't convince me that Sailor Mars and Sailor Venus are "Japanese".

That's just my opinion though.

I'm not gon front, whenever someone tries to convince me that some of these characters are Japanese and then they turn around and stereotype other characters that come from other cultures, I look at cats like .

Not many women walking around with natural blue hair either......because it's a fukkING CARTOON. It is not reality nor ANY type of representation of the real world, it is an entirely made up animated fantasy world where the rules of real life do not have to apply. Are we gonna start questioning how Sayains were able to breathe in space? NO, they just can because they can, it's not important. The only thing that is important is that once rules are established in a manga/anime/show that it abides by those rules from then on to avoid unnecessary confusion.

If a manga/anime/show/etc wants to be in a universe closely related to our own to appear more relatable, it can. If it doesn't, it does not have to. That includes all rules of physics, science, race, age, religion, strength, speed, etc etc etc

I'd disagree that the majority of Japanese "worship" the white man. Don't let fleeing images fool you to believe it represents the heart and soul of all the Japanese people. Asians are very proud of who they are, and honestly, most Americans in their anime are depicted as very nasty and disrespectful individuals.

But back on topic......all of them are Japanese, not just Mars because she's wearing a fukking kimono

It's an easy mistake to make.

Growing up, I used to think that shyt because they'd make all the heroes with what I thought were "white" features, and then they'd stereotype nikkas on some Mr. Popo shyt.

Up until recently, all the black characters I had ever seen looked like some shyt straight out of a minstrel show. Meanwhile, other groups were drawn with a bit more respect...cacs included. Hence the "worship" thought process.

Japanese don't like Foreigners or anything that is different from the norm. They're a very collectivist culture. Don't know how you came to the conclusion they worship whites. Because they don't draw themselves with chinky eyes they must love white people?
