i don't think philly has one really.
listen to kobe, kevin hart, or the boyz 2 men dudes
philly accent is more so slang influenced more so than a certain sound. we have some words like bread and doll that we say different than new yorkers but our version ain't unique to philly
They do. Beanie Sigel has a strong one

The suburbs
There actors, they have to shapeshift a lot for roles so they lose their native accent over time. They have to reinvent themselves including their voices, mannersims etc for movie roles.....so u might catch a lil bit come out here & there but its not as strong.

Its also why so many of them have multiple personality disorders.
What is a personality disorder?

Well we from the same area and I have a really hard time beleiving u havent noticed an accent lol
If he's from DC I could see how he wouldn't notice the accent, it'd just sound like how everyone talks.

When we were little we went to Ohio and some girl told us we had an accent. I'd never heard anyone say before and wondered what she meant.

The kirk to the fields
Denzel definitely got one

Played a southern football coach with a NY accent :heh:

Played a 1800s slave with a NY accent :heh:

Played a LA detective with a NY accent :myman:

On a similar note, the main characters in The Wire don't have Baltimore accents.

Stringer Bell and Avon Barksdale sound like NYers

the accent is there though, just look at how they pronounce alright or aite as “ard” and how they say water as wurter

The Wayans Bros have heavy NY accents, at least to my southern ears. Same with early Eddie Murphy (probably up til Coming to America? It was very evident in Beverly Hills cop and Harlem nights )

if you want to see someone eschew an accent, look at Stephen Colbert. Old boy is from South Carolina but sounds like he’s from Connecticut.

What’s really rare now is hearing the way old New Yorkers spoke with the mid Atlantic dialect like James Baldwin
