By trading for Paul George? :wtf:

You don't remember how the entire league was circling OKC like vultures ready for Westbrook to be the next one to go?

The sobering reality is this: do you really believe in your heart that OKC could blow it all up and in 10 years be better than where they've been?

Naw the PG deal worked out well for them and probably badly for PG. I’m talking the Adams extension. Taking on Schroeder contract. Presti didn’t want to go over the tax for Harden but will for Adams, Roberson, and Grant?

Kemba in OKC, add some halfway decent shooters (Wayne Ellington, Mirotic, Matthews?)

Westbrook is 30 years old.

Nobody wants a 30 year old Westbrook with declining athleticism due for $38 million a year who is uncoachable.

The Thunder are stuck with him.

They’re better off starting Westbrook at SG and trying to convince him to just be a slasher / playmaker than a high usage PG who the offense runs through at all times.

The issue with the thunder is that none of these "quick trades" for their underperforming players really work because they simply make too much money ... Westbrick is making 38 million dollars next season ...no team really has the cap space to absorb that kind of money in a trade and still facilitate a good team around him... same goes for Adams .. who the fukk would trade for him when he makes 25 million a year lol ....

what they honetly might have to do is convert PG13 into 2 players ... thats probably their best bet as he has the highest value ... if you can ship PG to boston for like idk lets say Haywayd and Smart or Brown the celts may do that .. but its going to have to take that kind of thinking to get this team back going .. thats the downside of these designated ultra max contraxts ...once you got a guy getting 40mil a year youre kind of stuck with him ..

:deadrose: at some of this dumb shyt.

Team was in the top 3 or 4 for most of the first half of the season & then PG got hurt at the worst possible time. PG getting hurt, Robes never making it back, & Abrines leaving killed the wing rotation. They couldn't get Matthews, Ellington, or even Brewer for different reasons so they spent the second half of the year playing Nader (who should be a 15th guy on a roster not a rotation guy), & even then he got replaced by 2019 Ray Felton in the last 10 or so games.

It wasn't Presti's call. He's not the owner. He works within the parameters ownership gives him.

The league went from having a 56-57 mil cap to now over $101 in a very short time span. Spending the luxury tax, as much as it is something teams wanna avoid, is inevitable for the most part. It wasn't like that earlier this decade.

It doesn't work like that.. him AND PG have to make them better..

They will fire Donovan first, and then possibly try to trade Adams to get an offensive option or two. They don't use Adams on offense, it is easy to replace him with a cheaper option and have more offensive options on the team.

It's not meant to be for most teams.

If you think they're anywhere near a rebuild, you're mistaken. They'll take being in the playoffs until they prove incapable of doing that.
This.

The operating logic of most small-market teams is just way different from their large-market competitors.

Making the playoffs ensures home sellouts the following season...so long as the franchise can sell hope, they're in the black.

Those extra home playoff games are also a huge boost to the bottom line.

Would they like to win championships? Sure. But most small-markets can't afford a tank...empty arenas for years on end can do serious damage to the business. There just isn't the concentration of folks that can shell out big money for season tickets in small markets, and sponsorship opportunities are nowhere near the level of large-market franchises.

The right business move is to be a perennial playoff team. NBA nerds will always be frustrated with this approach, but it's the most rational.

Trade Westbrook. I'm going say it, he's the worst "superstar" in NBA history. Three years w/o Durant and he's only won 4 playoff games in total. That's pathetic.

They really have no other option. PG has two more years left on his deal with a PO on the 3rd. If they want the most value on a trade the time is now.

I would also move Adams.

Of course ideally you want to move Russ and Dennis but those contracts are terrible contracts at this point. No one will touch it.

I would move Adams for an expiring contract.

I would also resign Noel for like 3 million
