What kinda gets lost in the shuffle is that dude was a regular in the UK/Euro house scene in the very early 90's
To OP: The UK/Euro Dance-pop and R&B music scene was HOT world wide for a minute in the early-to-mid 90s. It was almost like a new-age "British Invasion." Folks in the states just couldn't get enough of this explosion of British pop groups and singers.
And when Warner Bros put their weight behind this dude to be the voice behind that Batman Forever single, it blew up. Besides the massive marketing behind the film and the soundtrack, it was a genuinely good song. It got play on "adult contemporary" stations all around the clock. shyt was "I believe I can fly" status. I can sure tell you my older sister loved the song so much she bought that Seal II album.
But for the longest he was just "the guy that wrote kiss from a rose" until he got with Heidi Klum. That's when I remember him becoming this celebrity household name, even though a few hit UK chart songs was all he was known for on his own. Dude was like the ambassador of PAWGing in the early 2000s.
But nonetheless, he was essentially a one hit wonder who really peaked for his time.
