Ruthless had a machine they weren’t independent

Epic priority relativity kept them afloat

nah, I'm not saying ruthless was Koch/baby grande level of independence.

they had independent dealings with those labels.

sorta like how no limit & early rocafella were independent with priority distribution.

and there was no real machine. bone wasn't on TV like that. and in terms of airplay, it was mostly the fans & request shows that kept most of their singles afloat.

They had a chance to solidify their legacy in the mid 2000s but they had those wack singles with Phil Collins and Akon:scust:

lol @ the thought of their legacies not already being solidified long before those songs. this is that biased east coast mentality at play.

and those were hits. they even won an AMA off that album with the latter. and that's 14 years after their debut.

again, the only legacies that are still afloat with newer listeners, are the ones that the media forces.

Breh it's the east coast/NY bias on here that's all. I'm just like you, I don't know anyone who fukks with wu or knows any of thier songs like that. Meanwhile teens love first of the month, I tried, for the love of money etc
Cut that out breh aint no east coast bias when it comes to the Wu and Bone. They both were basically just as popular in the mid 90s. The reason that the Wu never had that kinda fall of tho was becuz of their solo artists

Ghost is a legend. Meth is Meth and Raekwon still puts out dope music in a consistent basis. Nobody is checking for fukking Layzie Bone and Flesh N Bone:russ:

The Wu are international icons. They got Wu t shirts in Target right next to Beatles shirts. Meanwhile Bone has Unsung episodes :heh:

Yall gotta get off that east coast bias shyt. It reeks of insecurity:scust:

Bone is a legendary group but lets be honest: after their first two albums their music doesn't hold up. And one of those albums was an EP:umad:

what insecurities??? IM EAST COAST born n raised. you cant push these rhetorics on me like yall doing these other posters. ive been to the secret meetings. including the ones that you DMV dudes were excluded from.

"art of war" is a classic and its a double cd.:umad: if you feel otherwise, youre certainly entitled to your opinion but their 3rd & 4th albums were poppin and their twilight runs were most likely better & more successful than whatever groups you put before them. not to mention that half the radio these days sounds like "art of war", so how does it not hold up??

and if you insist on being a hard grader, that's cool. but make sure you do the same for your east coast nostalgia piece groups. if bone's first EP & album are the only jawns that hold up, then that means wutang only has 1 group album & 1 solo that holds up. mobb deep only has 1 or 2. tribe only has like 2. need I go on?

they did one show in NEW YORK.

and they didn't open the show.

and it doesn't matter where you go on. that's politics.
***watches the backstage:hard knock life tour: movie:**

YOU dudes don't want to admit that bone was way more popular outside of the east coast.
and I don't know why you go on a mission to repeat the same rhetoric, only for everybody to shut you down everytime. youre going on doja missions for wutang, but wutang don't know you and don't care.

Im gonna put it like this. When I hear old school mixes I hear Tribe joints from 4 different albums. I hear Mobb joints from 3 different albums. From the Wu there's countless joints that get played from their solos. From Bone not so much.

All Im saying is you'd never catch the Wu on an episode of TvOne's Unsung:hubie:

did you type this with a str8 face???:mindblown:

THATS BECAUSE YOURE ON THE EAST COAST!!!!!! the fact that you think 95% of that chit is getting play on old school mixes outside of the east coast, just goes to show how self-absorbed & inherently biased you are.

and I know you started watching unsung years late. otherwise, you would know that Unsung is really a show for big-time urban stars whose legacies aren't force-fed by media.

whats funny is that the bone thugs episode if what brought most of you dudes to the show, and it low-key ruined it, because since that episode, they flew off the handle and are just doing anything '90s now. but that's for another thread.

youre also devaluing your own outlets by referencing TV-One as a bad thing, which makes me look at you funny personally. but that's for a whole other nother thread.

But Bone was just as big if not bigger than all those groups tho. I remember those years well since they were my hs years. Bone was all over the place and had a huge following in Baltimore. Some of my homeboys stanned the shyt outta them. But the fact remains that they became a footnote.

As @Billy Ocean pointed out they now open for the Wu:umad:

And Ive been watching Unsung from the beginning when they doing episodes on the Debarge's and the Whispers. You would never see the Wu on there. Why? They have a bigger legacy than Bone. Its really just that simple

Lies. They did many shows together, in different parts of the country, and every single time Wu were the headliners and Bone performed several acts before Wu. And yes...it does matter when you go on. Wu not gonna be performing on shows before Bone. Do you really wanna do this to yourself again, Wacky?

then whats the problem?

if you feel that bone thugs were too big to be on that show, then that isn't a knock on bone. that's a knock on the industry & its politics for shutting their legacy out of bigger outlets.......which goes back to my initial post, answering the OPs question.

theres a lot of artists featured on unsung who had better legacies than wutang. if you want to be real. wutang's legacy is predicated on branding(to their credit) and getting looks via the music industry & Hollywood. their musical legacy really aint all that, outside of the east coast.

that's still not opening the show.
and again, lineup orders are political. youre even further my point with your post.

If I'm wrong about the number of shows they did together, i'll take the L. no problem.

my point still stands tho.

I feel like Bone should've been on the show. They were a huge group that doesn't get mentioned with some of their peers which is why they are Unsung. They didn't leave a last impression on the game like the Wu did and its more than branding. The Wu made more timeless music, helped change the business model of the game, and invented slang we still use to this day.
