this was the era of middle and HS dances for me as well...can i get a would play, who ya wit, definitely not.

but like my first post, plenty of jay z songs were played on the radio. it was only RD that was pretty much ignored out here outside of ain't no. i remember telling my big bro i was gonna go to the store and buy RD....nikka told me not to be wasting my allowance like that :mjcry: :mjlol:

Nas stans might legit stab a nikka for any Nas slander

It is interesting, I meet a lot of people that say they have Jay as the goat but then you see what they play and not his records. Like it’s weird, people don’t rock with Jay musically as they may say. This isn’t me knocking him because I play a lot of Jay. I see this with other artist too. People talk very highly of artist, list them as the bar for rap but don’t listen to their music. They might be able rap bars they heard on big records.
i mean, how much of your listening should be occupied with music 15-30 years old :skip:? sure, there are true old heads that don't move off of what defined their youth from 10-30, but for those of us who still listen to new music, as well as mix in other genres, i don't have time for Pac, Nas, Jay, and Outkast to be the majority of what i listen to

Who you wit wasn’t a big hit but I do remember it being in the mixes sometimes on the radio. Can I get a…was the definite hit that was played though. Followed by hard knock life. Besides ain’t no… Foxy’s “I’ll be” featuring Jay got a lot of play at the time.

yea, foxy through 97 was definitely "carrying" jay records out here as she was the bigger name

I meant during the time period of his reign and what they’re able to reference. I should’ve wrote that out better. There’s a lot people that have given high praise but throughout his time on top weren’t really listening to him. I don’t recall people really playing his music at clubs or gatherings much.

hmm, well, i grew up in the bay, every Jay drop was the talk of school - vol 2, 3, bp, roc la familia, bp 2...got to college and black album was huge, our dorm and BSU parties always had some jay in the mix. during my clubbing years (was living in DC and Chicago) tracks from AG, BP3 and MCHG all had the club going up...i remember jays music everywhere after he blew up

Roc Boys and I Know (this was for us chicks who wanted to groove, you need songs that let you cool down and look sexy in the club) are perfect club songs...I'm really wondering if some of yall went to clubs where the DJ actually did their job of moving the nights thru different moments? Empire State of Mind, Run This Town and occasionally On to the Next One :scusthov: always got a good reaction. And Tom Ford and fukkwithme were day party staples...
