lol CenTex style is so bland. It's literally just prime choice cut brisket, with completely random fukked off sides and stale bbq sauce. :hhh:

And yeah It's no doubt that Cali black bbq mirrors our's. I always knew y'all had them rural TX roots plus the Louisiana and Arkansas roots. But, what I didn't know and found out recently that was there was a lotta direct migration from Houston to Cali. I though only rural south AAs left. I didn't know a lot urban south AAs left too. There wasn't a lot of white violence in Houston like in parts of the rural south, but there was a lotta job discrimination and lack of upward mobility that motivated people to leave for out west.

I'm also interested if there's any lasting tradition in AZ, WA, CO, & NV as well who also got a lotta black TX migrants.

I know black bbq cookouts is HUGE thing is the bay, especially oakland, richmond, and vallejo where that white lady called the cops. lol

And you right I been saying that Soul food ain't just kitchen cooked food of the old south. It's all traditional AA cuisine that includes bbq and lou creole food. The emphasis of spices and common meats is literally the same in all of them.
Yeah when it comes to the urban south Houston, Dallas, Shreveport, and New Orleans all had good numbers going out west. My closest neighbors growing up, damn near like extended family, were from Houston. One of my ex’s fam was from Shreveport, another couple ex’s fam’s were from New Orleans. Most people I know reverse migrating are going to Houston and Dallas with family ties playing a big part into that.

And yeah I’d say the other states out west are no exception...same roots, different destinations.

Yep, I think that's the sole difference between that inter-south migration to Houston and the migration to Cali.

Houston ain't really get a lot of black urban southerners from other cities in TX & LA till after the great migration, and it's mostly all from Louisiana.

I guess they figured if they were going to leave their cities they weren't just moving to another southern city with the same problems. Like why would a bunch of black houstonians pack up everything just to move to dallas and viceversa? lol

I actually was thinking the only place I would probably move is Dallas if I left Houston.

You ain't the only one. And that's because I love Houston, so I want something like it if I was forced to leave.

I don't want to live a in a rural town or far flung suburb, but at the same time I ain't tryna leave the south, or texas for that matter.

Add in the significant black presence and Dallas, to me, is best option. But, the people during the great migration in Houston and Dallas were sick of Texas, and the South all together, hence why there wasn't very much inter migration between the two cities. Rural East Texans moved to both cities, though.

Exactly I couldn't imagine paying state tax.

Ha! yeah, I don't even think about that most of the time. Them employment papers in other states must be a bytch to fill out. lol

Plus, the authoritarian gun control in the northern states is something I can't fukk with.
