lol CenTex style is so bland. It's literally just prime choice cut brisket, with completely random fukked off sides and stale bbq sauce.
And yeah It's no doubt that Cali black bbq mirrors our's. I always knew y'all had them rural TX roots plus the Louisiana and Arkansas roots. But, what I didn't know and found out recently that was there was a lotta direct migration from Houston to Cali. I though only rural south AAs left. I didn't know a lot urban south AAs left too. There wasn't a lot of white violence in Houston like in parts of the rural south, but there was a lotta job discrimination and lack of upward mobility that motivated people to leave for out west.
I'm also interested if there's any lasting tradition in AZ, WA, CO, & NV as well who also got a lotta black TX migrants.
I know black bbq cookouts is HUGE thing is the bay, especially oakland, richmond, and vallejo where that white lady called the cops. lol
And you right I been saying that Soul food ain't just kitchen cooked food of the old south. It's all traditional AA cuisine that includes bbq and lou creole food. The emphasis of spices and common meats is literally the same in all of them.
