Marriage, new jobs, and moving back home. Most of us are not from Houston.

Neither am I. I have an 18 month clock set. Gone see if I push it back to the East Coast/Southeast or stay in Texas. :lupe:

I could live in Cali for a 2 year maximum stint, but then I got to settle in somewhere.

Heard theres no real Black community in H-Town.

The black population, including new transplants, are either moving to burbs, leaving traditional black neighborhoods, opening them up for young non-black professionals to gulp up. Third Ward should be Houstkanda, 2 universities, next to interstates, light rail, every class of black folk, next door to downtown, Midtown, Museum District, The Medical Center.. Every professional stadium, convention center, numerous bars, restaurants, hotels, shopping and most major events in Houston are 10- 15 minute drive away maximum, with no traffic from Third Ward.....and more unique attractions are coming within that 10 - 15 minute drive radius zone. All types of shiit is being planned and proposed.....

There are some black professionals moving into the new housing or renovating, but compared to other parts of city or metro .. they rather go to Pearland or Spring, etc..sad...such opportunity in Greater Third Ward/Southeast Houston.

Somebody better start buying up the block. Eventually, even if it becomes gentrified, they will come calling with money....If you can't live there, at least find a way to profit before leaving....

To late.

FWIW. The whites are still weary of this area.

They're focusing on East Downtown.

Google East river development.

Also the houses aren't cheap. I have family in the area between TSU and UH. The avg price for a home 2400 sq is about 325k.

My fiancé has property in Eado that we’re renovating at the moment. The area has really changed since he first took me there 4 years ago.

Man I literally just came back from a drive through my old neighborhood out in dead end all the way to mac gregor. Its sad. I was expecting to see kids/teenagers hanging at crestmont park (even in 100 degrees we'd be out) or something!!! Mac gregor still got some nice houses but its like they been stuck in halfway gentrification for 20 years now. I miss the old 3rd ward/south park. Plus I saw so many mexicans/whites and even a middle easterner rolling I was shocked. It looked like people were hunting for property

Good for you.

I work downtown.

These young cacs are scrambling to get down there.

They cant afford the Heights, and they're scared to move to far in the hood.

If you work close to downtown or in the loop, this is the area you need to be looking.

Yes, his cousin says there are people stopping by all the time asking the price for the property. It sits on two lots, so people are looking at that as well. We are currently in Memorial, but we both work in the Heights. I’m fine where we are now, but I think he wants to be closer to downtown.
