Houston Police Arrest Two Black Men Because They Were With A White Girl

Kids in youth athletics go by themselves with coaches or on camps all the time. Your kid can be molested at anytime, it's up to you be able to judge whether you would put your trust in the person you are giving your kid too. Obviously the mother trusted the instructors enough to go with them, how is it any different from the millions of other kids across the nation that are left to these coaches without parents? As long as you trust the person and can speak with your kid every day, what the hell is wrong with it? You might even be more reassured if the instructors were gay which is very possible with this specific case.

I understand, but not everyone is a rapist. You experience is relevant but it has jaded you a bit imo. Lots of bums out there, but the majority will never commit a crime.

What about foreign trips in high school or exchange students, or sleep away camps? The parents most of the time never go with their kids when they do these things.. At a certain point you should be able to trust the person you are giving your kid to, you can't go with them everywhere. You can't put them in a bubble.

First, if the parents say it's OK, it's OK. The cops can't do anything because it's not against the law for a minor to travel with friends of the family. If cops reasonable think a situation looks fishy--and I admit this situation might have looked odd--they can inquire by knocking on a car window and getting information. What they certainly can't do is arrest friends, detain them, admit to racial stereotyping and call child services even after speaking to parents about the situation. If the "friends" hadn't been black men, this cac cops wouldn't have treated this issue as ludicrously as they did. The girl and the men say the cops themselves implied race was a motivating factor. We can speculate that if the men hadn't been black, the cops either wouldn't have stopped them or else wouldn't have taken it as far as they did.

Well yeh man. A young white girl with two black male adults is strange. Just like a young black girl with two white adult males is weird. Lol if they were the same race no one would bat an eye and rightfully so.

I agree it's a strange situation but cops normally don't arrest, detain and use racial remarks over "strange" situations without obvious evidence of wrongdoing. A strange situation necessitates only inquiry, not full blown interrogation and incarceration. This is like slamming someone's head into the pavement over a traffic ticket. The detainment, questioning, racial remarks (attested by the mother, daughter and the men) are obviously racially motivated, including the motion to send the girl to child services even after the mother vouched for her.
